00:00So Ben, how are you feeling now that the votes are starting to roll in?

00:03Nervous but excited. It's been a wonderful campaign.

00:07I've had over 1,700 volunteers who have helped in one way or another

00:12and now this is the nervous time of the evening

00:15where you sit back and wait for all the counts to start to come in.

00:19But yeah, very excited but nervous.

00:22And what was the turnout like at the polls today?

00:24Tell us where you went.

00:25Yeah, look, I started in Ararat and then I went to Allora, Glen Thompson, Dunkeld,

00:31voted in Hamilton, then to Penshurst, Hawksdale, then to Caroyt

00:36and then did all the booths here in Warrnambool.

00:39And yeah, it was a really good day.

00:40Just so many volunteers, so many people helping, so many people to thank

00:45and yeah, all just doing a wonderful job in representing the Liberal Party and myself.

00:51And what was the general consensus among your supporters and volunteers?

00:54Oh, look, they're excited and they're extremely hopeful.

00:59So, you know, they turn out for a reason and they really want to see a change of government.

01:04They think that the Albanese Labor government has been a really bad government

01:07and so their hope is we will get that change and that's why they're working so hard.

01:13And how are you feeling as you're going ahead with the independent challenger, Alex Dyson?

01:17Do you feel you've done enough to be re-elected?

01:19Ah, yeah, absolutely.

01:20I feel like I've done enough to be re-elected, but ultimately that's in the hands of the voters.

01:25So I went head to head with five independents the very first time I stood in 2010.

01:31And each election since then has been challenging and, you know, it's been very, very different.

01:36And this one has been no different.

01:39So, you know, really looking forward to seeing what the outcome is.

01:42And just a huge thank you to all the candidates who stood here in one and being part of democracy is so, so important.

01:50And all of the candidates who put their hands up, just a well, well done.

01:55And, you know, you've done your bit to make sure that Australia keeps being the best nation to live in on the earth.
