00:08She is a daughter of a farmer, a daughter of a school teacher in high school.

00:12One of her jobs was a Hannah Montana impersonator.

00:15She is the reigning ACM New Female of the Year.

00:18Ladies and gentlemen, the sixth artist for your QYK guitar pole,

01:06I mean, this is something definitely brand new to me,

01:08but, you know, I've made a promise to myself

01:11that if a door opens, I'm going to run through it.

01:16I really can, because I feel like you definitely fit the role

01:19and the fact that your music's been on there already,

01:23that people are going to be able to see you.

01:29people are talking about how good of an actress you are.

01:31Well, I mean, I've been acting a fool my whole life.

01:34I just figured out.

01:35In front of the cameras, no.

01:38I'll tell you, I've really learned how to enjoy it,

01:40and I'm getting to learn from the best there is.

01:43I mean, Kelly Riley, who plays Beth,

01:44and she's become a dear friend of mine now, too.

01:47But they truly are just incredible, and good people, too.

01:51So they've made it easy for me just to, you know,

01:54be able to go and be myself and give it my best shot.

01:57Now, how do you concentrate with Rip Wheeler

02:00just standing right there next to you?

02:02And, I mean, how?

02:04You just don't.

02:05You're just like, well, I'm just going to have to get through it.

02:08They are all just as beautiful in person, too.

02:11I'll just go ahead and say that.

02:13Well, you talked about Kelly Riley, who plays Beth on the show,

02:16and she's so intimidating on the show.

02:18What is she like off camera?

02:20Does she just turn it off, and she's like the super nice person?

02:22She is extremely nice.

02:24Like, she even made me these bath salts,

02:26and she was like, oh, my, you know, she's British.

02:29Yes, she's British.

02:30She's like, oh, my gosh, Lainey, I love your music.

02:31I was hoping that, you know, we could be friends and all this,

02:35and blah, blah, blah.

02:35And I'm like, what in the world is life?

02:37This is pretty dang cool.

02:39We're so excited for you.

02:40I mean, what was it, Lainey, three years ago, four years ago,

02:44came Watson in our studio, and we were just talking, doing an interview,

02:47and you're, like, just getting started.

02:49And look at you now.

02:50This is so amazing.

02:52I'm so excited.

02:53It's crazy.

02:54Yeah, that was fall of 2019,

02:55and this year I have been in Nashville for, whew, 11 years.

03:01So I've been there a long time,

03:03but I feel like we're really just getting started,

03:05and, you know, I think timing is everything, and I'm feeling good.

03:08Well, and that's great advice, you know, for people that are, you know,

03:11trying to start a career or do something.

03:13You know, it doesn't happen overnight.

03:15Girl, you have given it 10 years every single day,

03:18pushing, pushing, pushing, and look, it's finally paid off,

03:21but sometimes you just got to be patient.

03:23You're right, and I don't know how to do anything else.

03:26So I was like, no plan B for me.

03:28Plan A has to work.

03:29Yeah.

03:30Well, you know, and also,

03:31and I don't know if you have heard this before, too,

03:33but a lot of times in show business, they say good things come in threes.

03:36So you got your ACM win, then you got your number one with Cole,

03:39and now you got this Yellowstone opportunity.

03:41I mean, it seems like these are just lining up for you,

03:43and I couldn't be happier for someone like yourself,

03:46because I think it's very authentic.

03:47You come from a very authentic place.

03:51Yeah, I have a hard time being anything but myself.

03:53So I'm so glad that, you know,

03:55I've been able to be myself throughout this entire process,

03:58because it'd be a lot harder if I couldn't be.

04:01because if you weren't,

04:02and then you had to pretend to be someone else,

04:04where you just were yourself and you were a jerk,

04:05this would be horrible, right?
