00:06now kevin is the one who has booked this artist so launa and i do not know who's on the phone

00:12right now but kevin let's hear this intro and i cannot wait to find out who is coming to the

00:16qyk guitar poll all right here we go this guy he is from bixby oklahoma he started touring with a

00:24band when he was just 11 years old 11 at one point he was pulled up on stage and got to join

00:31willie nelson i mean who can do that all right good resume so far you do know his song wild as her

00:39his bandana game is on point ladies and gentlemen qyk guitar poll artist cory kent

00:46that is awesome i love it cory kent gonna be at the qyk guitar poll this is gonna be sweet man

01:08man looking forward to it that was a that was a heck of an intro i didn't even know you were

01:12talking about me so halfway through yeah cory this is gonna be great man i have not seen you

01:20acoustic before is this something that you enjoy doing kind of just breaking it down and stripping

01:24it down a little bit absolutely man i mean to me that's where that's where it all starts um i have

01:30a misrespect for the artist that can you know step up there with nothing but a guitar and a song and

01:35deliver a great you know experience for the fans and you know i like kind of like the intro alluded to

01:40i got started pretty young doing this and and uh what made me fall in music fall in love with music

01:45was the live performance of it and uh yeah so i mean this is a super important aspect and it gives

01:51me a chance to deliver these songs in a way and repackage them in a way that fans get a unique

01:56experience yeah i was gonna ask you that you just said repackaging them and doing them in a different

02:00way when you do acoustic so there are like not maybe not a different version but there's a different

02:05way to kind of present these songs when you're doing it acoustically yeah absolutely you got you

02:10got the freedom to change it up um because when you're playing with a band you know you've got it

02:14rehearsed you've got a kind of an outline to work off of but when you get to play acoustic in the way

02:20that i approach it is i kind of get to read the room like sure i can i never even pick what songs

02:26i'm gonna play before i play acoustic oh i love that yeah and based on you know maybe maybe this

02:32this crowd specifically is a little more traditional and like the kind of throwback country and that'll

02:37inform what i'm going to play next or maybe they're really liking the rock and roll kind of side of

02:42country and so that informs what i'm going to play next and how i'm going to play it the dynamics of

02:46it and it's just um there's no there's no blueprint whenever you get to play acoustic you just kind of

02:51get to feed off of the energy of the crowd and it's also the blueprint kind of for a guitar pool

02:57because when you're opening up for jason aldean like cory did jason aldean is a star of the show

03:03and we all know that going in but when you start a guitar pool it's crazy because people that you

03:09don't think that are going to become the stars of the show end up becoming the stars of the show and

03:14it's anybody's game because we've got five of you on stage at the same time and it's unbelievable

03:22some of the stuff that we hear and we're like holy cow i'm a huge fan of that person now you know so

03:27that's what i love about the guitar pools yeah it kind of puts everything at an even playing field i

03:32think you know like with you're on tour without being for for six months and we can't match pyrotechnics

03:39and the amount of crew and band and all this stuff like it's just us and some guitars up there right

03:43but you put jason and i on a guitar or on a stool together with nothing but guitars there's there's

03:49really uh even playing fields right and there is just listen to a song and how how does that person

03:56deliver that song and luckily jason's great at both of those things but i mean it's just one of those

04:01things like you were talking about sometimes the people you don't expect to surprise you surprise you

04:06yeah yeah you know i think and i say this a lot is as much as this is for our audience and qik

04:13listeners going and enjoying the show it's a show for the artists as well because you guys

04:18not always don't get to see each other that often or maybe don't know each other that well and so

04:22when you guys get to sit down on a stool and you talked about even playing field and like going

04:26okay i want to see what this guy can do and it's kind of it's kind of cool to watch you guys

04:31really get involved in it and uh and kind of just enjoy yourself so much seems like a lot of

04:36pressures off of you yeah for sure well and for me you know i live in texas which i'm one of the

04:41probably rare non-nashville based country artists that's on the radio and for me this is a it's a

04:49great way for me to reconnect with a lot of my friends you know we're all touring all the time

04:53and we don't get to see each other that much right and uh so this is it's a nice like family reunion

04:58style feel to it love it man well we appreciate you doing this we're excited to see you november 17th
