00:00All right, look out for quick sports from Eastside. Dave, there's everything you need to know to get your day started. Kicks off right now. Dave, what do we got, man?
00:07All right, let's start with baseball, where the Yankees were defeated by the Angels again last night, 3-2. The Yankees really stink. They cannot hit, unless it's Aaron Judge.
00:18Yanks were up 2-0 in the game with Garrett Cole on the mound.
00:22They made an error, immediately then allowed a Shohei Ohtani home run.
00:26All three Angels scored in the sixth inning, and that's how they lost, 3-2,
00:30because then if Aaron Judge doesn't hit home runs, no one else does, I guess.
00:35And that Ohtani is crazy.
00:36It's ridiculous. It's ridiculous, this offense, this Yankee offense.
00:42They literally live or die with Aaron Judge.
00:44So hopefully Aaron Judge is able to, you know, win a World Series for this team.
00:50I mean, listen, if he wins it, that would be great.
00:53Yeah, it will, but it will.
00:54And when they deliver the Canyon of Heroes parade, it should just be Aaron Judge in a car.
01:00It's Aaron Judge.
01:01Or maybe you get a convertible caddy.
01:04Rent 20 caddies and then have Aaron Judge go, just go to one, you know, go down the parade
01:09and then immediately get back, go into another one so he can go down the parade again in another car
01:15and then go back in line, get down, go down the parade in another car
01:19and just keep repeating Aaron Judge in the same car because no one else.
01:22Sadly, I don't think that's going to happen because it doesn't seem like a World Series is going to be in our future.
01:26Yeah, I mean, no one else is playing like a World Series champion, that's for sure, except for Aaron Judge.
01:32So that's why the Yankees are where they are right now.
01:34The Mets beat the Dodgers 2-1 with stellar pitching from Jacob DeGrom.
01:38DeGrom threw seven innings, giving up just the one run.
01:42He picks up the win.
01:44Starling Marte hit his 16th home run of the season for the Mets.
01:48The Phillies destroyed the Diamondbacks 18-2.
01:53Holy moly.
01:54Yeah, that's a big time win for the Phillies who, again, they continue to play good baseball
01:59and they put themselves in a wild card position.
02:02They're in the second wild card spot in the National League.
02:06Tennis.
02:07We're going to do tennis secondly because Serena Williams played yesterday and she won.
02:13She upset the number two woman in the world.
02:17Serena won in three sets.
02:19Lighten up New York City last night.
02:21The place was electric.
02:23Again, all the celebrities were there, the cameras, the this and that.
02:27Sold out at Arthur Ashe Stadium.
02:29And she is on to round three of the U.S. Open.
02:34That is exciting, man.
02:36She's retiring when all this wraps up.
02:38She's just, you know, she's extending her retirement run.
02:42She's announced her retirement that the U.S. Open will be her final tournament.
02:46And it's pretty exciting that every match could be her last.
02:50And then today she's actually playing a doubles match with her sister Venus.
02:53So, good on Serena.
02:55Football, the Rams are trying to downplay Aaron Donald, their superstar, defensive superstar,
03:02three-time defensive player of the year, seven-time All-Pro and Super Bowl champion.
03:08The Rams and the Bengals were involved in a joint practice.
03:12And sometimes these practices can get a little trash-talky and a little, you know, guys can get into confrontations.
03:21What happened?
03:22But Aaron Donald took a helmet off of a guy and started hitting him with it.
03:26Oh, geez.
03:27And so now people are...
03:28Looks like trouble.
03:29People are wondering, should he get suspended?
03:32But the one thing is, there seems to be a rule in the NFL that the NFL cannot suspend people for infractions during practice.
03:40That that would have to come down from the organization.
03:43So the Rams are saying, Donald, apologize.
03:47Let's move on.
03:48Because what are they going to do?
03:49They're not going to suspend their three-time NFL defensive player of the year.
03:53Seriously.
03:54And finally, basketball.
03:56Steph Curry just had a one-man graduation ceremony at Davidson College, where he earned a bachelor's degree in sociology.
04:04Oh, good for him.
04:05Curry attended Davidson from 2006-2009.
04:09That's where he was drafted.
04:10So he went off to the NBA.
04:12But with a little free time, decided, I'm going to finish my degree, get my sociology degree.
04:18Got to have something to fall back on, Dave, in case that basketball thing doesn't work out.
04:22Yeah, the $300 million deservedly that he's made in the NBA, you know, he's got to worry.
04:29So they had the ceremony.
04:31It was all nice.
