00:00Dave, what's up in quick sports, man?
00:01Okay, basketball, we're going to start with that.
00:04The Knicks played pretty well against Milwaukee last night,
00:08but they just couldn't beat Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucs.
00:12Final score, Bucs 109, Knicks 103.
00:15It was a tight game back and forth throughout,
00:17but eventually the Bucs made the shots at the end to win the game.
00:21Giannis had 37 points, 13 rebounds, and 7 assists,
00:25as the Knicks dropped to 10-12.
00:27The Bucs improved to 15-5.
00:30One personal observation is that the Knicks are beating the teams
00:34they're supposed to beat this year, and that is a good thing.
00:37But if they want to get to that next level,
00:42they have to win some of these games against the elite of the East.
00:45I hear what you're saying.
00:46The Milwaukee Bucs are an elite Eastern Conference team.
00:50Giannis is an amazing player.
00:52They won the championship a couple years ago,
00:54and the Knicks were right there throughout the whole game,
00:57but they can't get over the hump and win the game.
00:59They've got to close out in the fourth quarter against the elite teams.
01:03That's a good point, man.
01:03If they do that, I'd still like the Knicks' chances to make the playoffs this year.
01:09Meanwhile, the Nets looked good.
01:11They defeated the Wizards 113-107.
01:13Brooklyn's Kevin Durant, 39 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists in the win,
01:17as the Nets are now 12-11.
01:20The 76ers lost to the Cavs, 113-85.
01:23Joel Embiid had 19 points, but that was not enough to prevent the Sixers from losing the game.
01:29They are now 12-10.
01:32Hockey.
01:32The Rangers beat the Senators 3-1.
01:34Chris Crider had a goal in the Ranger victory.
01:38He continues to play well.
01:39The Devils and Flyers were off.
01:41This evening, the Devils face the Predators at the Prudential Center,
01:44and the Flyers play the Lightning in Philly.
01:48Baseball, the Toronto Blue Jays bringing in Don Mattingly as a bench coach.
01:53Oh, that's fun.
01:54Donnie, of course, was a star with the Yankees,
01:56and previously managed the Dodgers and then the Marlins,
01:59where he won the National League Manager of the Year.
02:02Surprised that if he's available, the Yankees wouldn't consider him for a bench coach.
02:05I agree totally with that.
02:08That's like a homecoming.
02:09That's like a feel-good for us fans.
02:11And also, Joe Torre would always speak highly of his bench coach, who was Don Zimmer.
02:16Yeah.
02:17And that is kind of like his right-hand man.
02:19That's where you get some opinions and you get some ideas from.
02:22So you could have had a former Manager of the Year sitting next to Boone,
02:26but I guess they didn't want to go that route.
02:29Football.
02:30Maybe Boone's not staying.
02:33No, they just re-signed him.
02:34And Hal Steinbrenner said in the offseason, the one person who's definitely safe is Aaron Boone.
02:41He's coming back for a few more years.
02:43Football, weird story here.
02:45The Washington Post published a photo of Cowboys owner Jerry Jones in 1957 at age 14,
02:53where he's in Little Rock, Arkansas, and there were black students trying to enter a school,
02:58and there are white students preventing black students from entering the school.
03:02Jerry Jones is in the photo.
03:04He's kind of in the back, but he is there, and he's having to answer these questions.
03:11Jerry Jones says he was just curious to see what was going on,
03:14was not participating in blocking anyone from entering the school.
03:17But kind of an interesting story.
03:20Weird place to show up.
03:21You also start to think, like, you know, you go back, you know, when the guy's 14, you know, is that, I mean, he's now 80.
03:31Yeah, I mean.
03:31You'd like to hope, what I'm saying is that he's grown.
03:34Learned through whatever was going on back then.
03:37Yeah.
03:37Like a lot of white people made some big mistakes back then.
03:41Yeah.
03:41And hopefully they've grown through that.
03:43Yeah, and how did the Washington Post find this photo of a 1957 14-year-old Jerry Jones?
03:49People are trying to find everything on everybody these days.
03:51That's amazing to me.
03:53Tonight kicks off week 13 of the NFL season.
03:56We've got the 8-3 Bills taking on the 6-5 Patriots in New England.
04:02If I may just say this, this will be the one game in which I'm okay with the Patriots cheating like the son of a bitch as we know they are.
04:13Yeah, it's in the Jets' best interest.
04:14Break out every cheat you possibly can to beat the Bills, okay?
04:18It's in the Jets' best interest for Buffalo to lose.
04:22And because they are right there, especially with the new king of New York, Mike White, as your quarterback.
04:29Everybody is thick of it.
04:30Broadway Mike.
04:30What? You don't believe in Broadway Mike?
04:33I do.
04:34I mean, I loved that game.
04:36It was one game against the Bears.
04:38I watched the whole game.
04:39Whose defense was falling apart.
04:41It was great.
04:41It was wonderful.
04:42But let's not overstate this.
04:45They competed.
04:46The Bears competed.
04:48Listen, all they said about Mike White is just do what Zach Wilson can't do, which is hit open screen passes.
04:55That was a good start.
04:56And open 10-yard passes.
04:58We're not asking the Jets' QB to throw the ball down the field 60 yards in the fly.
05:03But remember last year when Mike White came in and he had the best first NFL game of anyone in the history of the game?
05:12Yeah, over 400 yards.
05:12And then the next game he spit the bit?
05:15Yeah, I do.
05:16So I'm just saying, let's see how this plays out and not anoint him.
05:20What did you say?
05:21The king of New York?
05:22King of New York, a.k.a.
05:24Broadway Mike White.
05:25Right.
05:25Because I actually, and I'm a Giants fan, but here's the deal.
05:28The Giants played on Thanksgiving.
05:30I knew that they were going to lose.
05:31They got it.
05:32So as a result, 1 o'clock on Sunday was free.
05:35Yeah.
05:35And so I always go to my mom's to watch football at 1 o'clock.
05:38So we ended up watching the Jets game from the beginning to the end.
05:41So exciting.
05:42And honestly, it reminds me of when I was a Giants fan in 1990.
05:47And they didn't bench Phil Simms, but he got hurt.
05:51And they brought in Jeff Hostetler.
05:53And Bill Parcells told Hostetler, just make 10-yard passes down the field.
05:58Hit your screen passes.
06:00It's third and five, and you can take off for a first down.
06:03Scramble a little bit.
06:04Just don't make mistakes, dummy.
06:06And that's what happened.
06:07And guess what happened?
06:07The Giants won the Super Bowl.
06:09Maybe Mike White could do that.
06:10We've got a shot at something.
06:13Let's see what he does against the Vikings.
06:15Well, you heard it from Carl Crafty.
06:17The Jets are Super Bowl bound.
06:19That's a Carl Craft guarantee that Mike White will be in the big game.
06:23I don't think.
06:25Did I put that in there?
06:26Okay.
06:27We're going to the Super Bowl.
06:29Why not?
06:30Take that.
06:31That's it.
06:31That's the belief I'm looking for.
06:33That's your quick look at your score.
06:35I'm a Jets fan.
06:35We never make claims like that.
06:38We ever, never, ever, never.
06:40You've got to get that second Super Bowl.
06:42It's starting to get ridiculous.
06:43It is.
06:44It's crazy.
