00:13It is Military Monday and Heather is on the phone to talk about her son, Damon, today.
00:18Good morning, Heather. Tell us a little bit about Damon, how he serves our country.
00:23Good morning.
00:24Well, Damon is in his first year with the United States Coast Guard.
00:30Um, he is, uh, working at becoming a bosun's mate because he said he really just wanted a job with purpose.
00:39And he knew, uh, my husband and I both served in the Coast Guard as well.
00:43Oh, nice.
00:45Well, thank you for your service.
00:47Oh, thank you.
00:47And he came to us and he had been working a couple of jobs that he didn't like.
00:52And, you know, we said, the Coast Guard is a great job with purpose.
00:56And talked to him a little bit about it.
00:58And he said, yeah, I think that's for me.
01:00So, he did it.
01:01And now he is just really enjoying, you know, his career and everything that the future has to offer him.
01:10Well, I love the fact that he's following in mom and dad's footsteps.
01:13That is awesome.
01:14Now, we like to ask this question because you kind of want to get a full picture of your son, even outside the military.
01:19So, what are some of the things that he likes to do when he's not serving our country?
01:24Um, he's always loved being on the water.
01:27He likes to skateboard.
01:29Um, he likes to go kayaking, video games.
01:32So, what is mom most proud of?
01:34What do you love telling your friends about your son, Damon?
01:37Aw, he's such a sweet boy.
01:40He, um, even like growing up, all the other parents would tell me, you raise such a sweet boy.
01:46He's so polite and so kind.
01:48And everyone was always just surprised at how nice he is and what a kind heart he has.
01:55He's always gotten praise for that.
01:58But he's, he's very tall and he always, one of the funny little things about him is, um, he loves when he's at the grocery store and people ask him to get something off the top shelf.
02:07Oh, he feels so helpful.
02:09Yeah.
02:09I like that.
02:11Yeah, he's just such a sweet boy.
02:13That's awesome, Heather.
02:14Now, do you get to see Damon quite a bit?
02:16So, yeah, actually, I just saw him because he just left to go to school.
02:21Uh, yeah, so he was just home on leave and he just left two days ago.
02:25Oh, so, you know, this was, this was really nice that I got to talk about him a little bit because, of course, I miss him when he's gone and he's never here long enough.
02:33Yeah, I think every mom would agree with you on that, Heather.
02:36Uh, well, we want to do something for him.
02:37We want to give you a $50 gift card to PDQ to pass on and also a $100 gift card to the Tampa Premium Outlets.
