00:00Welcome to MMR's Madness 2022, the draft party we're going to do with basically the entire air staff of WMMR.
00:08And this is all brought to you by Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep, Ram City.
00:11We're going to go backwards in time. So we're going to start with the aughts, the 2000s and on.
00:16Preston and Steve, with the very first pick of the MMR's Madness 2022 draft, you guys are going to go with?
00:23Well, since we're starting in the 2000s, we may as well go with something we know that has the power to take it all.
00:31The Preston and Steve Show choose Shinedown.
00:35Whoa! Shinedown is off the board. Jackie and Brent, how do you guys feel about that one?
00:41I knew it was going to happen. Might as well, man. They're the best band on the bill. Why not?
00:44Do you guys remember who Shinedown took out last year? Because they took out some heavy, heavy hitters along the way to the championship.
00:50I know Pink Floyd. All right. So with Shinedown already off Pierre and Pancake, you guys have the second pick in the draft.
00:57Who are you guys going to take from the 2000s? We most totally submit the Foo Fighters.
01:03That is an amazing pick. Pancake, are you really excited about that one?
01:06I'm extremely excited about that one. Too many hits.
01:08So Jackson and Sarah, you guys are up next. Third pick of the draft. You guys are going to take?
01:13I'm going to say Tool. See what Sarah thinks.
01:15I agree. I concur. Let's do it.
01:17Jackie and Brent with the fourth pick of the 2022 draft. What is it going to be?
01:21Brent, let's say we go to Beantown up to Florida and we go with Godsmack.
01:26We'll get some smack. I'm down with it. Let's do it.
01:28In previous drafts, we've gone snake draft, but this is going to be different this time.
01:32So Preston and Steve, you guys are back up on the board.
01:35All right. We are going to go with the Killers.
01:39All right. We're going to go with Lincoln Park.
01:42Lincoln Park. Chicago's finest? I don't know. Chicago's finest? Sounds like a Chicago fan.
01:46From California.
01:48Isn't there a Lincoln Park in Chicago that we're in Illinois somewhere?
01:52There is a Chicago in California.
01:54I'll take the Pretty Reckless.
01:56Yes.
01:57We're going to stay local. Lizzie, your brother in Hailstorm.
02:00All right. They just announced some shows recently and we love this tiny, itty bitty little band.
02:06So we're going to pick the Black Key.
02:08It is Tool time.
02:10No, Tool's gone.
02:11No, it ain't.
02:12Oh.
02:13Oh.
02:15Okay.
02:18More coffee.
02:19I'll go with, we'll go with the Struts.
02:22Jackson and Sarah, there's some pretty heavy hitters still on the list. Who are you going to go with?
02:27Struts.
02:30That was going to be our next pick. Jackson, what do you think now?
02:33Incubus.
02:33Jackie and Brent Porsche with your third pick in the 2000s. You guys are going to go with?
02:41Corn, JD and the boys.
02:43You guys have gone pretty heavy with all three of your picks thus far.
02:46Because everybody keeps taking our bands.
02:48Preston and Steve with your last pick of the 2000s. You guys are going to go with?
02:52I think Preston's been making some solid calls on committed fan bases and that's what's really going to drive this whole thing.
03:00And he's selected, and I agree 100%, Weezer.
03:04Weezer.
03:06Weezer.
03:06You already liked that, did she?
03:08Nope.
03:09Did not.
03:10Did not.
03:11All right, Pierre and Pancake, who do you guys got with your last pick of the 2000s?
03:14Weezer.
03:16Damn it.
03:18All right, let's go with?
03:21Yeah.
03:24Nickelback.
03:25No.
03:26Oh, my gosh.
03:27You're going with Nickelback.
03:28Somebody had to do it.
03:30No, you didn't.
03:31There were a ton of other bands that you did not have to do that, but they did it.
03:34I think because there is a legion of Amy Lee fans out there, we should go with Evanescence.
03:41I think I want to go local.
03:44Carrying the torch for rock and roll.
03:45Well, not local.
03:46My pound's dirty, honey.
03:48And that does it for the 2000s.
03:51We are moving on to the 1980s.
03:52Pierre and Pancake, you guys have the first pick.
03:55Bon Jovi.
03:56Bon Jovi is gone and off of the board.
04:00That is a nice, solid pick.
04:03Hometown favorites.
04:04And Jackson and Sarah, you guys are up next.
04:07Ben Halen.
04:08Oh, Preston.
04:09I know that you're pissed about that one.
04:11Look at Preston's shirt.
04:13What do you say we up the irons, Bam Bam?
04:16Up the irons.
04:18Make it mandatory.
04:20All right.
04:20Iron Maiden is gone and off of the board.
04:23I think it's worth it.
04:24Absolutely.
04:25Chicago's own.
04:27Yes.
04:27We're going to go with Chicago's own Tom Petty.
04:30Tom Petty.
04:32Straight out of Lincoln Park, Chicago.
04:34That's a great pick, guys.
04:36He's from Florida.
04:37We know.
04:38Tom Petty is an artist that tests incredibly well with our listenership.
04:43We're in this to win and to crush all competition.
04:47Let me ask you, because I'm looking at the 1980s here, and I know that, like, 1980s gets
04:51crapped on a lot for their music, but, like, I'm looking at this decade, right?
04:57I agree with you.
04:58I'm looking at this list here.
04:59I'm like, these are absolute.
05:01Casey, the 80s brought in what was later called the Chicago scene.
05:06All right.
05:10So we're going back to the top of the list here.
05:12Pierre and Pancake, you guys have the next pick in the draft.
05:15And we thought we would go with A-C-D-C.
05:21A-C-D-C.
05:22I think we should get Russified.
05:24Yeah, I agree.
05:26Oh, Russ!
05:27Both of my bands!
05:28Yeah, Preston, what?
05:30Did it!
05:31Both of them.
05:33I think we're hell-bent for leather.
05:35You got your leather pants on, Jackie?
05:37I do.
05:38The metal gods.
05:40Bring them in.
05:41Judas Priest.
05:42Oh, I thought you were going John Mellencamp.
05:44Okay, Judas Priest.
05:46Excellent.
05:47Well, we wanted to get ahead of Pierre, and this is a good time because he's on the air,
05:51but we're going to go with Guns N' Roses.
05:53Woo!
05:56He's going to be pissed.
05:57This whole betting thing is confusing to me because I want to go with the heart,
06:04but Pancake is advising me to go to Ireland.
06:09Listen.
06:10You go.
06:11We're going to go with you, too.
06:12It's a good call.
06:13It is a great call.
06:14I think the police.
06:16Preston.
06:17Dude.
06:18Took all three of them.
06:19I know.
06:20This is bullshit, man.
06:21My three favorite bands.
06:23You stop fucking caring.
06:28Seriously, what the fuck?
06:29What the fuck, man?
06:30All right, Jackie Bam Bam, come on.
06:33What do you and Brent Porsche have going on?
06:35Stevie.
06:36Ray.
06:36Come on.
06:37Give it to me.
06:38We're going with Two Live Crew.
06:40Two Live Crew.
06:43We're going to get another one of my favorite bands, and this one might be a little bit of
06:49a side journey here.
06:51See what I did there?
06:52Journey.
06:53Hey!
06:55Love that band.
06:56Yeah.
06:56That's a nice, solid band.
06:58Stop believing, but in this case, I would, because they're not going anywhere.
07:02Aerosmith.
07:03Aerosmith.
07:04The bad boys from Chicago, gone and off of the list.
07:08I'm sorry.
07:08I was distracted.
07:09I keep waiting for Jackie to actually show me his nipple, because we're so close.
07:16Sarah, this one's on you.
07:17Well, earlier we were talking about the queens of rock and roll, so let's round it out with
07:21Joan Jett.
07:23Boom.
07:23I think we're going to go with the felines.
07:26You love it loud, known as deaf leopards.
07:28Ooh.
07:28Whoa.
07:30We're going to go with Motley Crue.
07:31Motley Crue.
07:32That is a great, great selection.
07:34So, we're going to move on to the 1990s.
07:38Jackson and Sarah, you guys have the first selection in the decade of the 1990s.
07:43No-brainer.
07:44Metallica.
07:45Yeah.
07:46So true, Jackson.
07:47Well, as long as we don't play Patience in every block that we play as music, we're going
07:51to choose Chris Cornell.
07:52Chris Cornell.
07:53And that is, I thought, you know, aside from Metallica being a solid pick, you not only
07:58get Chris Cornell, you also get Soundgarden, and you also get Audioslave.
08:02You're getting essentially three bands in one there.
08:05That is a solid motherfucking pick right there, Brent Porsche.
08:08I didn't realize they were lumped.
08:09That's a great pick.
08:10Yeah.
08:11We're doing this for a member of the Preston and Steve Show.
08:14He was giddy like a schoolgirl when they made the announcement yesterday that they are
08:18coming to town.
08:20The Preston and Steve Show takes Pearl Jam.
08:23Pancake and Pierre, with that in mind, who are you going to take with your first pick
08:26in the 1990s?
08:27He's muted.
08:33It's adorable.
08:34It really is.
08:35It's cute.
08:37Do you have two people who don't know how to work a mute button?
08:43Speak up, good citizen.
08:47Oh, was the mute on?
08:48I guess the mute was on.
08:49I guess.
08:50What I was saying was I have campaigned with my heart several times only to run aground.
08:57The ship of Pierre would hit the ground.
09:00Now, with that said, we're going with Green Day.
09:03Green Day.
09:04Nice.
09:06And I'm off.
09:10All right.
09:11I want my turn to the occasion.
09:14It's tough to feel bad from you, considering you guys have poached everybody else's favorite
09:18band.
09:18And so, Jackson and Sarah, who are you going to poach next?
09:21Dave Matthews band.
09:23Love you, Brent.
09:24I forgot Brent Porsche is a big Dave Matthews fan.
09:27Well, I figure since it's poaching season here, how about we take Pancake's voice sublime?
09:33Sublime.
09:33Well, after a quick discussion and thinking about Steve's concept of the block being played,
09:40if I hear the song Breed coming through my speakers, I'm definitely voting for Nirvana.
09:45Yes.
09:45We are going to Atlanta, Georgia.
09:49We are playing Collective Soul.
09:51I'm going to say Alice in Chains.
09:52Three digits.
09:53Three eleven.
09:55So there's a couple of reasons.
09:56They have one of my all time favorite songs.
09:57This is also a tribute to our video guru extraordinaire, Nick Murphy.
10:01We're going to go with Smashing Pumpkins.
10:04Woo!
10:05Hey, they're from Chicago.
10:06They are legitimately from Chicago.
10:10I know that.
10:11There's an expose that came out.
10:13They're from California.
10:15Oh, no.
10:16We are hooters.
10:18No.
10:19The offspring.
10:20I can't believe they're still on the board, but we're going to grab the red hot chicken or chili peppers.
10:27One from the big four, Brent.
10:28Do we get mega?
10:31Extra mega?
10:32Mega does.
10:33Do it.
10:34You guys definitely have the heaviest lineup of everybody out there.
10:39We've been sticking with a little bit of a grunge theme.
10:41So we're going to continue and we're going to throw into the mix Stone, Temple, Pilots.
10:48Bush.
10:50Bush.
10:51I like Bush.
10:52There you go.
10:53The 1990s have all been selected.
10:57And again, this is the draft party for MMR's Madness 2022 brought to us by Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram City.
11:04Thank you so much to our sponsors for helping us put this whole thing together.
11:09We've got 64 bands going to be split into four regions.
11:12The 2000s, the 90s, the 80s, and now we're going to select from the 1970s our first pick from the 70s with Jackie Bam Bam and Brent Porsche.
11:22Take it away, guys.
11:23I say we grab who made it to the finals along with my boys in Shinedown.
11:26Number one, we're going to grab Pinky Floyd.
11:28We're actually going to change it up a bit.
11:31Ladies and gentlemen, the greatest front man ever.
11:35We're going with Queen.
11:36I'm sorry, but the greatest front man ever is Mick Jagger.
11:42With no disrespect intended to my dear friend Preston.
11:47Rolling Stones.
11:49Led Zeppelin.
11:50NY Duke.
11:51Love Philadelphia.
11:52We're talking about David Bowie.
11:55The who?
11:55It will be my great pleasure to announce that this band should take it all away just to hear like a two-hour block of them,
12:06which would make our program director, Bill Weston, overjoyed and twirling.
12:13May I simply say God bless the grateful Ed.
12:19Sabbath slash Ozzie.
12:22The boss.
12:23Bruce Springsteen.
12:24Bruce.
12:25Bruce.
12:26Excellent.
12:27Fleetwood Mac.
12:28All right.
12:29All right.
12:29Pierre Robert.
12:30Pancake.
12:31Your next selection in the 70s.
12:36He's muted again.
12:38Yeah.
12:40Sorry.
12:41We're not.
12:41We don't do this Zoom thing very soon.
12:43Oh, you don't?
12:43Okay.
12:44We're once again, as I said, going north to the north country of northern New Jersey.
12:51Bruce Springsteen.
12:51Brent and Jackie already got them.
12:57Oh.
12:58We were muted.
13:00Sorry.
13:01Everything was muted.
13:02You couldn't hear?
13:03Yeah.
13:04You just, you muted your microphone and you couldn't hear.
13:07We're going north, south, east, and west because all four of these members represent a different direction.
13:16David Crosby, Stephen Stills, Graham Nash, Neil Young, CSNY.
13:22You wanted the best.
13:25I got the best.
13:26Yes.
13:28Jackie Bam Bam, Brent Porsche.
13:30Your final selection for the draft is going to be.
13:34Hey, want me to take it?
13:35Yeah, go ahead.
13:36All right, man.
13:37I can't believe we're choosing this band last, but they're going to be part of the Jackie and Brent region.
13:41The Beatles.
13:42Wow.
13:43Oh, my goodness.
13:44Hopefully it will still up for grabs.
13:46Yeah.
13:46Yeah.
13:46Your band took out the Beatles last year.
13:48Here's one from left field.
13:50Yeah.
13:50We're going to go against the grain a little bit.
13:52Yeah.
13:52But if you think in a block, some really incredible guitar solos, some infectious Latin style rock.
14:02Santana.
14:03One of the most underrated bands, I believe, of all time.
14:07Ray Davies and his fighting brother Dave.
14:11The fighting Davies brothers, ladies and gentlemen, the Kinks.
14:15And we have one more selection with Jackson and Sarah.
14:20Jackson and Sarah from the 1970s.
14:24Who are you going to take?
14:26Another really underrated guy.
14:28You don't hear much about him.
14:29Nobody talks about him.
14:30I guess he was OK.
14:34Yeah.
14:34Jimmy Hendrix.
14:34Definitely want to make sure that you start listening this Monday, March 21st.
14:38And you're going to listen for the matchups every hour from 12 noon to 7 p.m.
14:42You can vote for your favorites at the MMR app or at WMMR.com, where you can actually see the entire bracket.
14:48One band of these 64 from the 1970s, 80s, 90s, and all of the aughts is going to be crown champion on April 1st.
14:55Thank you so much to our sponsors, Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep, Ram City.
14:59Thank you so much to Preston and Steve, to Pierre and Pancake, to Jackson and Sarah, to Jackie and Brent.
15:05You guys are awesome.
15:06Congratulations and good luck.
