00:27giant bee the species was believed to be long extinct but a group of researchers set out in

00:32indonesia in the hopes of searching for the giant bee and other species and they found it

00:37they trekked for days but on the last day they spotted a termite mound that appeared to have a

00:43hole in it sure enough they caught sight of the giant bee for the first time in decades it is a

00:48black wasp like insect that was discovered by alfred russell wallace in 1859 he described it as to be as

00:56long as a human thumb jaws like those of a stag beetle and obviously the world's largest bee

01:03it has a wingspan of a couple of inches they must have been so excited when they found it

01:08these guys were a big bee and we found it we're in the amissons and we're just uh looking for a

01:14special special special little friend the colossal bee
