Auburn Baseball Sweeps LSU for 1st Time Since 1988

The Auburn Tigers moved up to No. 6 in the country after a three-game sweep of then No. 2 LSU.

00:00It was great, I had no idea until George let us know that.

00:03It was my senior year of high school, so I was alive.

00:06It was, I just, the only thing I enjoy was how the guys just played together.

00:13It just seemed like the defense was buttoned up.

00:16The pitching staff, hopefully they can take confidence.

00:18We're only at the halfway point.

00:21We've been swept and it's powerful, I think, to get a sweep.

00:25We look at a first half and we get set toward a second half and

00:28then our at-bats, I think Ike had a huge play early in the ball game.

00:32He got a big hit off and just everybody contributed there.

00:37Snow's big swing last night, but just up and down.

00:40We got some hits tonight and we scored early.

00:43Seems like we've kept that trend.

00:46We knew, after you beat those guys in every offensive category,

00:49they're in the top ten and that pitching staff,

00:52they didn't give up an earned run last week in the entire weekend.

00:56And we knew that they had their two relievers.

00:59We knew Cowan and Evans was going to be in there.

01:02And Shores, that's about as the lowest slot right-hander.

01:06Those right-handed bats were tough.

01:08And that sink and that riding and being in the mid to upper 90s.

01:12But Ike and Cooper McMurray, we had great approaches.

01:16So we got the runs early.

01:18And Ike kept thinking the last two days it would be more and more offense on both sides.

01:23But it turned into some great pitching performances.

01:26Dylan Watts, I go back to Tuesday, and then today was great.

01:31Griffin Graves has been coming for us the last two weeks, and he kept coming today.

01:36Alvarez, a true freshman.

01:38I mean, it's only one hit and it's not perfect yet.

01:41He pitches himself into a little bit of trouble with some free stuff.

01:45But they couldn't get the big hit or didn't get the big hit.

01:49And they're so capable and have been and will continue to be a great team.

01:53But for this weekend, our guys came together and played in every facet.

01:59Great baseball, sound baseball.

02:02LSU was going to have to beat them for the most part.

02:04And then our crowd, the largest series ever at home,

02:08it all just came together and synced up this weekend.
