Auburn's Butch Thompson after Beating Stetson: 'Amazing College Baseball Game'

The Auburn Tigers are within one win away from advancing to the Super Regional after their 8-5 win over Stetson.

00:00Yeah, just that amazing college baseball game.

00:03That's about all you need to write down.

00:05I just thought two great offensive approaches.

00:07Both teams had double-digit hits.

00:11And I thought the pitchers fought.

00:13I thought Samuel Dutton absolutely, he's sitting right here,

00:16just fought his guts out to us to get us later in the game

00:19to be able to pass the baton to a guy that we trust to close games.

00:24Same side, every time I praise us for something,

00:27I'm going to do the same thing with Stetson there.

00:28They brought Van Dyke in.

00:31Their reliever is just absolutely incredible, one of the best.

00:34I think righties are hitting under 100 on the season.

00:38But the lefties, I thought Bub's big hit off the left field wall.

00:43And Ike there was a huge run there in the top of the ninth.

00:47We were able to get to the finish line.

00:49But you can just tell approaches when you're locked in

00:52and you know a team does a good job if you don't make a pitch.

00:56Wasn't a lot of strikeouts on either side.

00:58That ball was put in play.

00:59There was amazing defense on both sides.

01:01Great effort.

01:03Another unbelievable crowd, a great atmosphere for postseason.

01:06That's what it's supposed to be like.

01:08And you could absolutely feel it in the ballpark.

01:10So I'm thankful to win that one.

01:13Both nights have been a grind.

01:15And all you can do is just come out and play hard.

01:17It's not going to be perfect.

01:19You can just play it as hard as you can and keep moving forward.

01:22And I think we did that again tonight.
