00:00All right, Donnie, right side, you got your wish.
00:03A small break from the association before we set the stage for the regular season finale weekend.
00:08The action that we have tonight, day off on Saturday, regular season finale Sunday in the NBA.
00:15Because right now, we go back to where the azaleas are in full bloom.
00:20And the sun is starting to shine bright and early on a Friday morning for round number two
00:24at Augusta National Golf Club, the 2025 Masters.
00:28Round one leader at seven under par after firing and opening round 65.
00:32That is Justin Rose leading after the opening round for the fifth time.
00:37It is 20 starts at the Masters.
00:39Off to a good start today.
00:41Two holes down for Rose.
00:43A birdie on the par five second.
00:45He is now eight under par.
00:48And DRS, despite being that round one leader, he entered round two with the third best price
00:54to win a green jacket for the first time in his career.
00:57Live odds board right now.
01:00Justin Rose with a four-shot lead.
01:02Second best price at six to one.
01:05Still about four dollars behind, though.
01:07Our reigning Masters champ in Scotty Scheffler.
01:10Plus 210 for Scotty.
01:12Yeah, this is going to be interesting to watch today.
01:14Because again, we're expecting a little bit more wind in the afternoon, which could be a struggle here.
01:18Dry out those greens even more, which makes it tough.
01:20Which means if you have a three-shot lead coming into today and you can keep that end or extend that lead
01:26because you have the advantage of getting out earlier and you're playing well
01:29versus some of the competition in the afternoon, like a Scotty Scheffler that is a great player,
01:33but not getting the advantages that you might have in the morning with less wind
01:37and a little bit easier setup to the golf course for yourself.
01:39And the fact that Justin Rose, as you said, teed off, was a little bit leaky on his approach shot
01:44to the first green, still makes that par, then goes to the par five, number two, and birdies that hole.
01:48Now there's no telling.
01:49Like, we're not expecting seven under again day number two out of Justin Rose in the Masters.
01:54But my goodness, if you are going to shoot maybe in the high 60s and certainly under par for the day,
01:59off of a minus seven, that's impressive.
02:01And understand this too.
02:02Last time we saw Justin Rose yesterday, it was with a bogey on 18.
02:05So the fact that you can have a bar, then a birdie, to sort of wipe that away, that's fantastic stuff.
02:1144 years old for Justin Rose.
02:14Of course, he has won major championships before a victory at Marion in the U.S. Open, I believe, in 2012,
02:21if I am not mistaken.
02:22And of course, being atop the leaderboard after Thursday at Augusta is common stance in his career.
02:29His fifth time leading after round number one, that a new Masters record moving past Jack,
02:34that being Jack Nicklaus, who had led four times alongside Rose for the most ever.
02:39Now Rose holds that distinction by himself.
02:42But he has never won a green jacket.
02:44He has never led wire to wire.
02:47He finished T2 in 2015, lost in a playoff to Sergio Garcia back in 2017.
02:54Last year, he missed the cut at Augusta, but he had two top 10 finishes elsewhere in the majors.
02:59A sixth finish at the PGA Championship, finished T2 at the Open Championship as well.
03:06Now golf's final major to end out the calendar.
03:09Scotty Scheffler, four under par, a bogey-free 68 in his opening round,
03:14trying to do something we haven't seen since Tiger Woods back in the early 2000s,
03:19when two consecutive Masters and Green Jackets trying to do something we haven't seen since Jack Nicklaus
03:24back in the mid-60s, 63, 65, 66.
03:28That's win three Green Jackets in a four-year span.
03:32And Donnie, despite trailing Justin Rose now by four shots,
03:35despite trailing Rose by three at the end of Thursday,
03:39Scotty Scheffler remains an incredibly short favorite.
03:41Two to one entering Friday live right now at plus 210.
03:45But Scotty does tee off at 1.23 p.m. Eastern time in the Friday afternoon window.
03:51Wins expected to be around 12 to 14 miles per hour sustained.
03:55The afternoon charge later today on this Friday at Augusta on cut day,
04:01expected to get the more difficult conditions than the guys on the course right now in the morning hours.
04:07Certainly makes a big difference at that point.
04:08But also understand this, like Justin Rose, you know, an aging veteran per se on the PGA Tour,
04:13trying to make a run out of it.
04:15Yes, the expectations are he's probably going to have a decent finish to the tournament.
04:18But then again, you take a look at Scotty Scheffler at four under expectations today.
04:22I don't care what the wind is.
04:23Another four under.
04:24Expectations on Saturday.
04:25Another four under.
04:26Because that's how great a golfer he is, where maybe Justin Rose goes,
04:29all right, I went seven under, and then I shot plus one on a Friday,
04:33and the field came back to me at that point here.
04:35So it's nice to see Justin Rose getting out to that first two holes here at a minus one.
04:39But I don't care what the temperatures and what the expectations of the winds would be.
04:43Scotty Scheffler, I expect him to be under par today,
04:46and certainly in contention once we hit late Saturday afternoon.
04:50They were thinking there would be about a couple of inches of rain overnight,
04:54maybe early into this Friday morning at Augusta.
04:57Didn't really get that DRS.
04:58The sun is out right now.
05:00A chilly start, but the sweaters are starting to come off for the guys.
05:04It's really expected to be a pretty ideal day.
05:07But as the wind blows, not only does that cause some confusion around Augusta National,
05:12those swirling gusts, it also dries out the fairways and, more importantly, the greens.
05:17With all the undulation and the curves, that can be quite difficult to try to shoot under par
05:22at Augusta National.
05:23That is still the expectation, though, for Scotty Scheffler.
05:26His round two over under, 70 and a half.
05:29The under has the juice.
05:31That's meaning 70 or better.
05:33That would be two under or better for Scotty Scheffler.
05:36Last year, when he won his second green jacket, a bogey-free 66, six under par in the opening round.
05:42Really on pace with that.
05:44How about the rest of the leaderboard?
05:46Ludwig Oberg, who has taken the golf world by storm in his first few years as a professional.
05:52Last year, a runner-up finish in his debut at Augusta.
05:56This year, four under par in the opening round in a really well-played final nine.
06:01In that grouping with Rory McIlroy and Akshay Batia, who was also great down the stretch.
06:07Three birdies to close for Batia as well.
06:10It was only really Rory McIlroy, DRS, that struggled to end things out yesterday in that grouping for them.
06:18Rory, four under to his opening 14 holes.
06:21Looking really in command.
06:23Really in control.
06:25Four over in his final four, including doubles on 15 and 17.
06:30Yeah, it's just brutal chip shots here.
06:33And if you would have told me Rory McIlroy was pulling up to hole number 15, which is a par five at four under,
06:38the expectations to finish that round would have been five under or even more with how well he was playing.
06:44And it was, sometimes it's like, hey, I'm going to get in trouble and just duck hook a, you know, a drive into the trees.
06:50That wasn't the case here.
06:51His short game really betrayed him yesterday and cost him in the biggest moments.
06:55And understand this, as I talked about Justin Rose, the chance to have a double bogey on 18.
06:59You know what, I'm going to sacrifice and I'm just going to make sure that I handle myself with a bogey here
07:04and get into this score sheet and sign my card today.
07:07When Rory McIlroy was like, okay, well, knock this into the water.
07:10Let me try to get real close.
07:11You get fancy with a shot.
07:12It goes off the green again.
07:14He just let it compound here and wasn't able to settle himself down.
07:17And also, from the start where he's waiting to win that green jacket,
07:20you couldn't have had a better imaginary to have a first round than he was having,
07:25because particularly, he doesn't typically have those type of rounds here at Augusta.
07:28And it looked like he might be at minus five or so under, and he ends up at an even par.
07:32That's like missing the cut, it feels like.
07:34I had a chance at everything here on day number one.
07:37Now I dug myself a hole for day number two.
07:40Rory McIlroy has not shot in the 60s at Augusta National in the opening round of a Masters
07:45since 2018.
07:47Seemed well on his way to doing that yesterday, DRS.
07:49And when things like that happen, right, not like a bad bogey where he lipped out,
07:54but that was it, the only blemish on the scorecard yesterday,
07:58when you are four under through 14 and then go four over over your final four,
08:02which you doubles, that narrative starts to creep up once again,
08:07that maybe it's not your play, maybe it's not your form,
08:10maybe it's not what you perform like off the tee,
08:13maybe it's not your approach or your ball striking or your putting or your short game,
08:16maybe it's that mental dragon you are unable to slay,
08:21which we have seen time and again, despite what Rory has said.
08:26McIlroy's second best price entering the 2025 Masters at plus 650,
08:31two and a half bucks behind Scottie, a 12 to one number now,
08:34that price nearly doubling.
08:37DRS, do you think he can slay that dragon?
08:39Do you think Rory McIlroy can respond here in round two
08:42to set the stage for a potential historic weekend for McIlroy at Augusta?
08:48No, the demons got him already.
08:50And now I don't care what type of professional Godfrey you are.
08:52He has multiple championships under his belt.
08:54It's been a long time since he's won one,
08:56but this is the course that you always wanted to win.
08:58And you sort of get that meltdown at times.
09:00He already had a day.
09:01Number one.
09:02I don't know how you go to sleep and wake up.
09:03I'm like, okay, eight shots, nine shots,
09:05maybe 10 shots back by the time I tee off.
09:07That ain't happening for you, Rory this year.
09:09Yeah, 70 and a half, that second round score for Rory,
09:13the under a slight bit of juice.
09:15That would be an under par bounce back that he desperately needs.
09:18More from Augusta in hour three for NBA next.
09:22Welcome to hour number three, our third and final.
09:25Live right here on this Friday on the early line on SportsGrid.
09:28He is Donnie.
09:29I am Ben.
09:30One more hour to go on this Friday to end out this week
09:33and send you into your weekend.
09:35We hope a smarter sports better and a more enjoyable sports fan.
09:40We've got the regular season finale weekend in the NBA,
09:42but of course a ton of focus on what is happening right now
09:46in round number two.
09:47It is cut day at Augusta National Golf Club
09:50for the 89th playing of the Masters.
09:53The 2025 Masters Tournament.
09:55Rory McIlroy, Ludwig Oberg, Akshay Batia now on the course as well
09:59beginning round number two as is our round one leader.
10:03He is playing the lengthy par three fourth at Augusta.
10:07Justin Rose trying to get up and in to stay at eight under par
10:12and stay at one under through his first four holes here on Friday.
10:16A lot to get to here, DRS, in this third and final hour.
10:20And we will go to Augusta National up next with our guy Keith Stewart
10:23for a live update on the grounds of the 2025 Masters.
10:27All right, let me take a look here.
10:28I'm on the rundown right now.
10:30So let me just go for what the people can't anticipate today.
10:32We're going to talk some golf, awesome stuff.
10:34Major League Baseball.
10:35Hey, hello.
10:35It's about time.
10:36It's baseball season.
10:38I think I'm taking off 10, 10, 32.
10:41Waste of time.
10:42Oh, my God.
10:43You like breaking down games, though.
10:44I'm out on the segment.
10:45I'm out on the segment.
10:46Like, I'm out.
10:46I'm out on the segment.
10:47You like breaking down games, though.
10:49Yeah, I like breaking down.
10:51The recaps are tough.
10:51No, I can't do it anymore.
10:53I can't do it anymore.
10:54Like, I was really enthused as you going over, setting up the hour.
10:57I'm like, you know what?
10:57I don't think I have any NBA.
10:59And to see NBA again in hour number three really demoralized my weekend right now.
11:05I don't even know if I can do pro baseball today, Sunday.
11:07Now I'm so upset.
11:08Wow.
11:09All right.
11:09Maybe you'll call out there.
11:10We can get some help for Tom Becchio.
11:12DRS, I just would say, right, it's the regular season finale weekend.
11:15There's still a lot at stake in the NBA, conference standings-wise, playoff positioning-wise.
11:22And from a handicapping perspective, a little bit difficult, right?
11:25But here on the early line, we try to get those early reads at where things are based
11:29on the players we expect in a starting lineup to be available, motivation being a handicapping
11:35tool.
11:36I don't know.
11:36Not the worst.
11:38I'll continue to provide some master's updates at 1032 and 1044 so we can eat up some of the
11:44time.
11:44Let's just watch it together.
11:46We were in studio for the final four watching live.
11:49We can do hour number three.
11:50We don't have to go swing by swing.
11:52I don't think we're allowed to do that here on certain networks.
11:54We're not.
11:54But why don't we just watch the masters in hour number three, relax, and have some fun?
11:57We can do that right now.
11:58We can go shift on the fly.
12:00Yep.
12:00Okay.
12:01On number four, by the way, lengthy par three.
12:04Great approach by Justin Rose.
12:06Love it.
12:06Guys having to use the fairway medals off the tee.
12:09It's playing a little bit long right now at the par three fourth, I should say.
12:14Rose was well short of the green, probably about 45, 50 yards away.
12:20A beautiful pitch shot to put it up to about three feet.
12:23He tapped in for his par.
12:25He remains at eight under.
12:27He is one under through his opening four holes on this Friday in round number two.
12:31He still maintains that four shot advantage DRS at Augusta.
12:35Yeah.
12:35By the way, also, let me ask you this question, because we love hole-in-ones.
12:38Are we going to get one today?
12:39Are we going to get one Saturday, Sunday?
12:40Or how about the tournament itself?
12:42Like, there's about 16?
12:44Like, where does it come from?
12:44I want to think of where the normal pin placement is at 16 on Friday.
12:50Because for yesterday, guys were throwing darts at the back right.
12:54But as I said today, playing a lot longer.
12:56They're using fairway medals and long irons off the tee.
12:59Six is always hard.
13:0012 is very difficult.
13:02And with the winds picking up this afternoon, good luck.
13:05I do think we could see a couple of balls in the drink on number 12.
13:09By the way, I got to talk about the water at 12, known as Ray's Creek, in just a moment,
13:14based on what one of our amateurs did yesterday in DDRS.
13:2016 is often.
13:22If there is going to be a hole-in-one at the Masters, it is 16.
13:26Sunday is your best shot.
13:27It's tucked into that left side.
13:29You get the slopes.
13:31You get the undulation that brings the ball to the pin and to the cup.
13:35But I think on Friday, it's on the right side of the green, short right,
13:38making those hole-in-one opportunities a little bit more difficult to come by.
13:42That's right.
13:43When you see these golf courses like Augusta National, most people, like,
13:45you've played probably a lot of public golf courses in your life, you know,
13:48some private golf courses, which are very nice.
13:50But I get a kick out of it.
13:51Like, if I played Augusta National, and when I was playing, like, you know,
13:54back in my mid-20s, you understand, like, the caddy's going to tell you,
13:57like, make sure you say to the right side of the green, man,
13:59you're going at every single pin.
14:00It doesn't matter.
14:01Yeah, it doesn't matter.
14:01The pros are so good that they can, like, you know what,
14:04stay to the right side of the pin.
14:05Or when you see some of those, you know, part of these on the back where you
14:07got to just make it over the water.
14:09It's a short hole.
14:09Like, you can't go for the pin.
14:11You're like, don't we always, like, amateur golfers,
14:13go for every single pin and never listen?
14:16You know, public be damned if you hit it over the green.
14:19Make sure you don't go long.
14:20I'm going at the pin.
14:21I went long.
14:21So what?
14:22Looks like a five for me.
14:23DRS, I think that's one of, like, the biggest differences between even the
14:26best amateur golfers and pro golfers.
14:29One of them also being just scoring around the green.
14:32They're not going to leave too many strokes out there outside of Rory
14:34yesterday on 15 and 17.
14:36If they have a 45-foot putt, that's going to be a two-putt 99.9% of the time.
14:43One of the others is, if you told an amateur, hey, you have 165 yards and an
14:47eight or nine iron or a seven iron in your hand, and you put it 25 feet on the
14:52green, you're like, one of the best shots I've hit in the last four weekends.
14:56If you are a pro golfer and you need to be on the right side of the green to
15:01have this slope and you want to be under the cup so you have about 15, 16 feet,
15:05and you put it on the left side of the green about 30 feet away, that might be
15:09the worst shot you hit all day long.
15:11That's one of the main differences, I think, in terms of the approach game and
15:14ball striking that the pros have.
15:16That's why they're playing at Augusta right now, and that's why we're giving you
15:19the live odds update.
15:20So, let's do that here by hearing from the people, who's going to win a green
15:24jacket at weekend's end?
15:26Who is going to be in Butler Cabin having an interview with Jim Nance and the
15:30chairman at Augusta, Fred Ridley?
15:32That was the question for all of you in Fade to Public.
15:43Four options for you.
15:44Sports Grid on Twitter.
15:46Who will win the Masters?
15:47Justin Rose, our round one leader, who has now extended that advantage.
15:50He has a four-shot lead at this moment, eight under par.
15:54Corey Conner, Scottie Scheffler, Ludwig Oberg, all at four under.
15:58Will it be Rory McIlroy?
15:59Will he finally complete the career Grand Slam after the disaster is closed to his opening
16:04round?
16:05Four under through his first 14, four over in his final four holes.
16:10Can he see a resurgence on Friday and into the weekend, or will it be Scottie Scheffler
16:15donning the green jacket for a second consecutive year, a third time in the last four, or might
16:20it be an other?
16:21If it was an other, we asked for a reply.
16:25Most of the public DRS, more than 59% of the vote, backing Scottie Scheffler.
16:30Frankly, how could you not?
16:32Pre-tournament favorite at a four-to-one price, fires an opening round, four under 68, bogey
16:37free, completely in control, completely in command, and despite trailing Justin Rose by
16:42three shots at the end of day number one, his price to win a green jacket was four to
16:48one to enter the tournament, two to one at the end of Thursday.
16:52Yeah, he's going to win it.
16:53I voted for him, so I wasn't fading the public at that point.
16:55But you take a look at Rory McIlroy at 11.8.
16:57By the way, Justin Rose, seven under yesterday, birdie early today, people don't give a damn
17:02about that, 4.1%, which I do think is kind of funny, but understand this too, like there's
17:07been some magical masters in the past that we know about, obviously 1986, Jack Nicklaus
17:11at his age, coming back on the back nine, winning that, absolutely one of the majors that everybody
17:15will remember, Tiger Woods, first major there at the Masters, he ran away with the field,
17:20lapped the field, we had to actually Tiger-proof that golf course over the next couple of years
17:24because they thought Tiger might do that every single year.
17:26But Rory McIlroy, who has yet to win a green jacket, the way he played yesterday and being
17:31seven shots back after day number one, where he hits the gas pedal on Friday, Saturday,
17:36and Sunday and wins this thing in a close back nine effort on Sunday, that would be absolutely
17:40outrageous.
17:41I don't think it's happening, but you want to write a storyline where, how did you get
17:45your first one?
17:45Where it's like, hey, I played well all four rounds and I closed it out.
17:48Like, no, Rory's probably at his lowest moment leaving the golf course yesterday.
17:51I don't know how many more opportunities legitimately I have where I might be in the lead or close
17:55to lead in day number one and I blow it like that and then win the tournament, that would be
17:59something spectacular.
18:01DRS, 18 of the last 20 Masters winners have been in the top 10 at the end of round number one.
18:08Not a lot of love there for our round one leader in Justin Rose, but that basically means that our
18:14winner is going to come out of Justin Rose, Corey Connors, Scottie Scheffler, Ludwig Obert,
18:19Terrell Hatton, Bryson DeChambeau, Matthew Fitzpatrick, Sung J.M., Aaron Rye, or Jason Day.
18:25Akshay Batia could be in there as well.
18:27How about my guy, Victor Hovland, still even after his opening hole of the day, but don't need to hear
18:33it from Donnie and myself.
18:34Keith Stewart, live from Augusta National Golf Club.
18:37Next.
18:38Live from Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia.
18:42Keith Stewart joins us live right here on this Friday morning to preview all that we will see in round number two
18:48at the 2025 Masters Tournament and his reactions to what we saw during Thursday's opening round as well.
18:55Keith, as always, a good morning to you.
18:58It does seem as though the sun is shining bright and early on this Friday at Augusta.
19:03Ben, Donnie, it is a spectacular morning here, but you know what?
19:07Last night, the surfaces got a little softened.
19:09We did get some rain in the, you know, midnight to 2 a.m. hour, and, you know,
19:14that accumulated to maybe a little less than two-tenths of an inch.
19:17So the guys that are out this morning, very little wind, softer surfaces that they're going to see this afternoon.
19:23This afternoon, the wind's going to blow.
19:24So I think the guys in this morning wave have somewhat of an advantage.
19:29Keith, we talked about the trends, the early window into the late afternoon Thursday-Friday split.
19:34That has been the last six winners during the springtime when Augusta normally hosts the Masters.
19:40You said keep an eye, though, on that late afternoon and early morning.
19:43And in the late afternoon yesterday as we get your reactions to round number one,
19:47it was Justin Rose atop the leaderboard, firing in opening round 65-7 under.
19:52The fifth time after Thursday that Justin Rose in his 20 career Masters starts has led after round number one,
20:00a new record at Augusta.
20:02What impressed you most about what Justin Rose did on Thursday?
20:05Well, you know, a number of things.
20:09You know, when you go around this place, you play on the razor's edge.
20:12You have to be able to really manage your golf ball.
20:15And we saw it a number of times yesterday.
20:16I mean, no more unbelievably than how Rory's round tanked on the 15th hole.
20:22But getting back to Rose is that he is really good in big spots.
20:26And the reasons for that is that he just doesn't make a lot of mistakes.
20:28Now, he's 44, so maybe he's not Scotty Scheffler and the lack of mistakes that Mr.
20:33Scheffler makes going around Augusta National and Major Championships.
20:36But if you look at Rose's record, the five first-round leaders here, you know,
20:40no one's led more rounds at Augusta National and doesn't own a green jacket than Rose.
20:45I'm not sure if that's a compliment or if it's an insult.
20:48But at the same time, you get the point.
20:50His game fits in Major Championships.
20:52He's got two top tens this year, guys.
20:54Both were in signature events, AT&T and API.
20:56He's got two top tens in Majors last year, once in Valhalla and that runner-up in the
21:01bad weather at Troon.
21:02Justin Rose at 44 years old is working on his legacy, and he's got the game to do something
21:08about it.
21:09And he's playing well also to start today, one under par already.
21:13But, Keith, I want to get to Rory McIlroy right away with you because we talked to you
21:16earlier this week, and you were saying you didn't think this was going to be the time
21:20that he was going to win the green jacket.
21:21But playing well coming into the tournament, I took him for a top 20 in round number one yesterday.
21:26I see him get to 15 and go, he's four under par.
21:29Like, birdie, par this, bogey, bogey, bogey on the way out, you get a top 20 finish.
21:34The collapse happened, and it was unforced errors.
21:37It was like sometimes we just have a bad tee shot or get a bad break.
21:40You see that all the time.
21:41Or, man, I can't believe my ball actually landed behind a tree, and now I'm going to
21:44have to take a drop or I can't deal with it.
21:46Those unforced errors he had were atrocious down there.
21:49It seems par for the course for Rory sometimes at Augusta.
21:54DRS.
21:55I mean, he sat in the 15th fairway.
21:57He had a 28% chance to win the tournament, to win the green jacket.
22:01He finished his round with a 1.7% chance to win.
22:05And it's funny because I was on with Carver when all of this was taking place, and he had
22:10Rose as a first-round leader.
22:11And he's like, I don't feel safe with Rory.
22:13He's already in the fairway on the par five.
22:15He's going to make eagle, and Mike's going nuts and everything.
22:17I said, you know what, let's just let this play out.
22:19And I know that Ben asked me the question yesterday morning, you know, what about Rory?
22:23And I don't know if I answered it to the best of my ability, but we all knew at some point,
22:28or at least I knew at some point, that there was going to be some sort of mental lapse on
22:34Mr. McIlroy.
22:34And we saw it yesterday.
22:36I thought it'd be a little later in the tournament, but it happened yesterday when the pressure
22:39mounted.
22:40All of a sudden, the ball started finding the water.
22:42And then the other double bogey was just really just not good golf.
22:46Totally unforced to your point, DRS.
22:48For Rory being an even, he's four back from second place.
22:52He's seven back.
22:53Well, now eight back from the leader.
22:55I mean, a lot needs to happen.
22:56I heard you guys right before the break as I was logging on.
22:59You know, it's tough to come back for more than the top 10.
23:03Yeah.
23:04Let's see the resolve out of Rory McIlroy on the course right now, beginning his second
23:08round to make a par on his opening hole at number one.
23:12It is really that resilience, Keith.
23:13And when it comes down to the mental aspect of Rory trying to change that narrative and
23:18finally win a green jacket to complete the career Grand Slam with how disastrous the
23:23close was yesterday, you got to see a spark of joy and energy right away on this Friday.
23:29But let's also talk Scotty Scheffler.
23:31Pre-tournament favorite, opening round 68, four under, bogey free.
23:36Scotty Scheffler makes playing the Masters seem rather easy at times, although it is a very
23:42difficult test.
23:44Where do you put Scotty on this Friday and his outlook for winning his third green jacket
23:48in the last four years this weekend?
23:51Ben, the outlook is very, very positive.
23:54Yesterday, probably the most important thing to point out is that Scotty had a clean card,
23:58right?
23:58He just walked around this place like it was easy.
24:02You know, the scoring average at the end of the day was plus 1.6 strokes over par.
24:06Both waves were about that same number.
24:09You know, only 26 players finished under par.
24:11He's sitting right there at four under.
24:13Great champions.
24:14They never go out like rabbits.
24:15They just pace themselves.
24:17He'll hit four under for four days and, you know, he'll be 16 under and the next closest
24:21guy will be 10.
24:22I mean, Scotty just doesn't make the mistakes, Ben.
24:26And, you know, Rose yesterday in the interview room, and I want to bring this up for the viewers.
24:31He said it so well.
24:32The reason that that top 10 after round one trend is so strong here is because if you have
24:39to chase, at some point, you have to make a decision to go after a pin that, from the
24:43middle of the fairway, that you just can't do it.
24:46And these guys are so good, they convince themselves, I can hit that shot in that corner
24:49or I can do that.
24:50But that's what makes this place so special.
24:52You go, you make an unforced error, you make a bogey, and you go backwards rather than forwards
24:56when you're trying to hit the gas pedal.
24:58The car stalls out.
24:59So, Scotty just won't do that.
25:02And he'll just beat you with a thousand paper cuts over the next three days.
25:07The favorite right now, the favorite entering the tournament, Scotty tees off in round number
25:11two at 1.23 p.m. Eastern time.
25:15Keith, as you enter round two Friday, cut day at Augusta, in the weekend that looms, on
25:20Sunday evening, who ends up in Butler Cabin donning that green jacket?
25:24Well, I tell you what, I think it's either Scotty Scheffler or the very young version of
25:31Scotty Scheffler.
25:32I think the more things change in the golf, the more things stay the same.
25:36I think Scotty and the kid, Ludwig Oberg, are going to be right there on Sunday, and
25:40they're going to have another rematch.
25:41And I tell you what, it's going to be another special week down here at Magnolia Lane.
25:44Ludwig Oberg, a 4-under par 68 in his opening round, a par at number one to start round
25:52number two in that group with Rory McIlroy.
25:55Keith Stewart, enjoy the weekend at Augusta.
25:57We know you will.
25:58More on the early line next.
