00:00Joey P, we're going to hold you and we're going to talk waiver wires here because we need you,

00:04my friend. So many people are on the wire. It's still very early. Don't panic. Joey P is here.

00:08You're a very talented and humble man. Joe, where do you want to go first?

00:13I want to start at second base because second base can be tough and Otto Lopez has gotten off

00:17to a pretty decent start, but I want to just pump the brakes a little bit and give you a context

00:22here. So he's got two home runs. That's not really his game in his first nine games. 270 batting

00:28average, a 341 OVP. He's got a little bit of speed, has one stolen base already. He's got

00:32four walks, four strikeouts. So that is more of what we're looking at. He's a career 300 hitter

00:36in the minor leagues. Now he's been around a little bit, started in the Toronto organization,

00:39then moved to the Giants and then now onto the Marlins. So he has bounced around. He is 26 years

00:45old, so a little bit older, not quite prospect the age, but given an everyday position here,

00:51I think he is a player that can get you a 275, 280 batting average, make some contact,

00:57have some bursts of productivity. I don't expect a lot of power from Lopez, but

01:01if you're in a scenario where you're kind of hurting at second base, right? You missed out

01:05on the draft or you drafted a guy like a strata. You thought he was going to be the guy you ended

01:08up getting hurt. Lopez, I think can be a quick fix. We're talking about a guy you spend a couple

01:13bucks on, play him until your other players get healthy or get right. And then you could drop him

01:18back to the waiver wire. So I don't want to make a big investment on Otto Lopez, but I think it

01:22would be nuts considering where he's hitting in the lineup for the Marlins and what he's done so

01:25far for the Marlins to ignore him completely. So we're talking about a $3 player, $2, $1. Maybe

01:31if it's a very shallow league, you just need a second base or some, you know, middle infield

01:35help. Lopez, I think can give that to you, but don't go overboard this early with a budget for

01:40a guy like Lopez. I'd rather be spending five, six bucks on a guy like Zach Veen and stashing him

01:45or a guy like Kyle Teal and stashing him. I think that would be a much better use of your money,

01:50but you do need some players when you're hurting at a position. And if you are hurting in the

01:53middle infield, Lopez is a guy that can help you. I think at least in the short term, I do like

01:57the hit tool, just not a lot of power, but the good spot in the lineup, that's what we want.
