East Point coach Joe Carmody talks about the round one performance after a win over Sebastopol in the BFNL

00:00That start in the end it was that's probably what got you the points in the end.

00:03Yeah look we started off really well and then you know credits to Sebas they just

00:07kept coming and you know they're much improved they've got some quality players across all

00:11the lines so we knew it was going to be a tough battle and their best footy is really good so we

00:17knew we had to be at our best. We probably weren't at times but there are different times where we're

00:21able to put it on the scoreboard. They're a different side I mean I remember watching that

00:24game under lights here last year and you guys just ran ran them off their legs but that didn't

00:29happen today they were always they were always with you most of the way. Yeah look the pleasing

00:33thing from our point of view every time we were challenged we were able to score so they got back

00:36to within 10 points we kicked a couple they got back to 10 points again and then Max Wilson kicked

00:42the sealer so you know we've got a lot of work to do we know that but we're really pleased with

00:48the young guys we put in today and we know they're only going to get better and our better players

00:54performed again you know Mikajar was sensational I thought and probably that last quarter helped

00:58get us over the line. And even the medalist at the end nearly killing himself about a minute ago

01:03you know he didn't have to do that but he went back and you know saved probably saved

01:07probably saved you guys from getting in more trouble. Yeah like he's one of the best leaders

01:11I've come across in the over footy and you know he's not only a sensational player but he just

01:17puts his head in the hole every time and I can't speak highly enough of that both on and off field

01:22he's terrific. It did look like there was an injury though lost one to a hamstring. Yeah Alex

01:26Molan who kicked a couple of goals and looked in really good form unfortunately yeah it looks

01:32like a minor minor string but he's had a few problems with that over the years so we'll monitor

01:38that and we'll be pretty proportionate show some proportion. Yeah as I said as we were walking

01:43out there I mean it sure beats what happened in round one last season so I mean you can only build

01:48from here you can only build from last season and you can only build this one again. Yeah look

01:52we said before the game it's a different ball game this year you know every team's improved so

01:57when you look at Sebas they've been training for quite a period of time and you know we only

02:02started in December so we're different stages of probably our fitness and so forth but you know

02:07they're as I said a quality team so to start the way we have is really pleasing. Win's a win mate.
