TFL 25 years: Londoners favourite tube line

With TFL celebrating 25 years since it took over London transport networks, we ask Londoners their favourite tube lines.

00:0025th anniversary of Transport for London, the public organisation that oversees London's

00:07transportation network. Since its creation in 2000, TfL has aimed to transform how millions

00:13of Londoners travel each day, managing everything from the iconic tubes to buses, trams and

00:19river services. It has played a crucial role in improving accessibility, attempting to

00:24reduce congestion and introducing systems like the Oyster cards and contactless payments

00:29for transport. Over the years, TfL has expanded and modernised services, but its mission has

00:34remained the same, to keep London moving. But has it done a good job? As Transport for

00:40London celebrate this 25 year milestone, it raises the question, which tube line do Londoners

00:46love the most? Let's find out.

00:48I love the entire network, to be honest. The entire London underground network is amazing.

00:55I've thought this for years because it offers us access to every part of London and I travel

01:00around quite a lot. I've never really had a favourite line previously because I used

01:07them all quite excessively. But I think now my favourite line is probably the Elizabeth

01:13line.

01:15I think the Northern line, because it gets me home. And also because I did grow up on

01:23that line as well. So, yeah, it reminds me of the first time I used to go out late and

01:29come back on the tube, that sort of thing. Yeah, I have I have an attachment to the Northern

01:34line.

01:35The Jubilee, because it's just about the most reliable, even if it's not that reliable.

01:43And it's not quite as loud or stuffy as the others.

01:47I don't know, man. I grew up, I grew up in Haringey near the Northern line. So that was

01:52what I grew up with. It's not a particularly nice line. Now I live up in Enfield town.

01:57I've got the overground, which is actually really nice. But let's face it, the nicest

02:03line is the Elizabeth line.

02:04Yeah, the Elizabeth line is definitely an improvement. I don't use it a lot, but when

02:08I do, it's nice to have something that feels like an actual world class speedy service

02:16that's air conditioned as well.

02:18I think it's great. I think we should have the double doors, the doors that match up

02:21with the train doors on all the platforms across the London network. If it saves like

02:25one life a year, it's worth it, I think.

02:28The colour purple is great, you know, because it's on the top of the rainbow spectrum and

02:32it's meant to be the highest. Yeah, so it's a lovely colour, I think. And even the person

02:37who invented that map, the tubes are amazing. I could talk about them for a while. But yeah,

02:42even the maps, the way that they were created by whoever designed them, I think it's just

02:45an amazing feat of engineering that we have.

02:49To celebrate 25 years, TfL has organised events and projects throughout the year, including

02:54a series of posters entitled Making Every Journey Matter.
