This year Transport for London is rolling out a range of exciting updates
00:05
across the city's transport network. From new infrastructure projects to service
00:10
enhancements, TfL is aiming to make travel easier, faster and more
00:15
sustainable. These changes are designed to improve everything from bus routes to
00:19
tube lines, ensuring a more efficient experience for Londoners and visitors as
00:24
well. One key project is the upgrade of the Elephant and Castle tube station
00:29
designed to support the regeneration of the area, which will bring in over 10,000
00:33
new homes and 5,000 jobs. Initial works are underway with tunnelling set to
00:39
start in 2025. The project will increase station capacity by over 30%, creating
00:45
more space for passengers and services. A new entrance will also be built at the
00:50
heart of Elephant and Castle town centre, with escalators and lifts offering
00:55
step-free access to the Northern Line platform. Work is also continuing on HS2,
01:00
connecting London with the Midlands by 2033. TfL is working closely with HS2
01:06
Limited to support new infrastructure in London. HS2 services will terminate at an
01:13
expanded Euston station and a new station at Old Oak Common for easy
01:17
connections to the Elizabeth Line, Great Western Main Line and local buses. And
01:22
the Piccadilly Line is undergoing a £2.9 billion investment programme to
01:27
improve reliability and capacity. New trains which will begin service in 2025
01:32
will replace trains from 1975. The new fleet includes air conditioning, wider
01:38
doorways, improved step-free access and on-train CCZV for added security. The new
01:44
trains will also increase the number of services through central London, with up
01:48
to 27 trains per hour during peak times. Now with more updates sure to come
01:55
throughout the year, stay tuned for all the latest travel news from across London.
