The National Media Has ISSUES With Vikings, J.J. McCarthy, And It Makes No Sense...

00:00The national media still doesn't get it with J.J. McCarthy.

00:03Do they even pay attention?

00:06No.

00:07Let's talk about it.

00:11Minnesota Vikings QB1 this year is going to be J.J. McCarthy.

00:15Yeah, there was some flirtation with keeping Sam Darnold and Daniel Jones, and even some

00:19with signing Aaron Rodgers.

00:22But make no mistake, J.J. McCarthy is going to be QB1.

00:26We've gotten to know J.J. McCarthy a little bit, even though he's done limited media

00:29appearances because he's just an enigma.

00:32He was at Michigan, too, meditating at the goalpost.

00:36And even after he got injured and tore his meniscus in the preseason game that ended

00:40his rookie season, he tweeted out Amor Fati, which is Latin for love of fate or love of

00:45one's fate.

00:47He's OK.

00:49He is just a very unique person, and he's very confident of what what is out in front

00:53of him.

00:54So why is the national media now starting to paint him as this egomaniac?

01:01It doesn't make any sense.

01:03He said on Up and Atoms that the Vikings have not told him that he's QB1 going into the

01:07year, and he wants it that way.

01:09He likes it because he wants to earn it.

01:12The Vikings want him to earn it, too, even if the quarterback competition is somewhat

01:15of a farce.

01:16If they end up bringing in Ryan Tannehill, which was they have had discussions about

01:20bringing him in, according to Jordan Schultz over the weekend.

01:24Well, even so.

01:28Like even if they have that farce of a competition, he's going to be the quarterback.

01:33But Stephen A. Smith and Shannon Sharpe on first take took it a step further.

01:37This is just insane behavior talking about what do you want a QB reveal QB1 J.J. McCarthy?

01:45What does he want them to roll up the red carpet for him?

01:46Go play football, man.

01:48An abbreviated version of what Shannon Sharpe and Stephen A. Smith had to say.

01:52It's so far from reality, I can't even begin to fathom why they would think it.

01:56Oh, I know why.

01:57He doesn't play for the Dallas Cowboys.

01:59He doesn't play for the New York Giants.

02:03He plays for the Minnesota Vikings, a team that the national media just does not pay

02:07enough attention to.

02:08They don't understand because they don't care to.

02:13And should I be bashing national media?

02:14It's hard to cover all 32 teams.

02:18You can't know the minutiae details of everyone, but at least try at least try to make an effort.

02:24They try to understand who J.J. McCarthy is and what the Vikings are trying to do.

02:30It's just so clear that it's not in their best interest to do so, and it's very frustrating.

02:35You're going to have a few that do a really good job of making that effort.

02:39Shout out Mina Kimes.

02:40I don't think anybody does a better job of making an effort when it comes to the Vikings

02:43than her.

02:45But just understand what McCarthy is.

02:47He's going to be QB1.

02:49He wants to earn it.

02:50The Vikings want him to earn it.

02:52And he's unique.

02:53And I mean that in a positive way.

02:56He's okay with whatever life throws at him.

03:00More fatigue.

03:01This whole ego stuff where he wants the red carpet rollout for him.

03:07He said in the interview that he likes that they didn't tell him.

03:12He's glad they didn't.

03:15How is that ego?

03:16It's a bunch of horse hockey is what it is.
