Let's start off with one of mine, who's basically completely off the radar,
00:04
not being drafted in any fantasy league because he's not guaranteed a starting spot.
00:08
George, that's Randall Gritchuk, who to me, if you look at his ADP, it's 687, okay?
00:18
So this is not a player, if you drafted a fantasy league and then just kept going forever into the night,
00:24
he still would not get drafted.
00:26
But he did hit 12 home runs, he drove in 46 runs.
00:28
And so what are we doing here with Randall Gritchuk?
00:31
My point of being a sleeper is look what you got for that ADP.
00:34
You would take that right now if you thought you would get that for this ADP.
00:39
By the way, if it was 500, you would take it right now.
00:42
So I think that they paid him enough money where I think he's going to play a little bit.
00:47
And every player like this is one injury away from getting some more playing time.
00:52
I don't think he's going to hit 30, and I don't think he's going to hit 300.
00:57
But it seems, George, like everywhere he goes, he puts together a 100-game season
01:02
of 10 to 15 home runs and 50 runs driven in.
01:05
And if he gets more playing time, he does more with it.
01:07
Can you count on that? No.
01:09
But that's the point of the segment.
01:12
You know, it's funny.
01:13
When I saw your picture, I'm like, oh, Gritchuk's still in baseball.
01:15
Good for him. Professional baseball player.
01:18
That's what he is.
01:19
Good for him.
01:20
He needs an injury to get in there, right?
01:24
Corbin Carroll, McCarthy, Gariel, Pilot Smith's your DH.
01:28
He needs an injury.
01:29
Maybe he'll be the second.
01:30
He can be part of a platoon with Pilot Smith, but it's the wrong end of a platoon, right?
01:33
He needs the lefty batters there.
01:35
So NL only?
01:37
Okay.
01:38
Because he's an NL only guy.
01:39
I don't see him being drafted in most—you know, in mixed leagues, I don't.
01:44
The question we got was 18th round or later, guys, not 180th round or later.
01:50
So that's really—I don't have much hope for Gritchuk.
01:53
I think if you told me he was going to get playing time, like McCarthy goes down, he's going to play every day,
01:58
I think he would actually outdo those numbers.
02:00
I think he'd hit 20-plus home runs.
02:01
I do.
02:02
I think the guy could still play.
02:03
He's just not a good situation there.
02:05
But I think he will be the wrong end of that platoon at DH where he'll face some lefties,
02:11
but he's going to need an injury probably to get to where you want to go.
02:17
I would probably be a little bit more interested if that stolen bases wasn't a donut.
02:21
Once again, I don't have bases.
02:23
That's always my problem there.
02:24
The average is good, though.
02:25
He'll actually help you there.
02:26
And the power, we know the power is legit here, but you need an injury.
02:30
Yeah.
02:31
No, I would agree on all fronts.
02:32
All right.
02:33
It was one year ago.
02:34
I think it was last week, one year ago, maybe it was even further than that,
02:38
that John Birdie was traded during spring training to the Yankees,
02:41
and his ADP is even higher than Randall Gritchuk.
02:45
Birdie was hurt all of last year.
02:46
They moved him to the Cubs.
02:48
And the Cubs, George, did not sign Alex Bregman,
02:51
and they have handed over this job to Matt Shaw.
02:54
What happens if Shaw is not that good?
02:57
John Birdie is going to play.
02:59
Everybody last spring training was like, how many bases is Birdie going to steal?
03:02
How many bases is he going to steal?
03:03
Is he going to steal 40?
03:04
Is he going to steal 50?
03:05
I mean, he's not going to do a lot else,
03:07
but in leagues where you're playing NL or you just need stolen bases,
03:11
an undrafted player in fantasy, to me, it's a pretty good stash.
03:16
Now, he's got to be healthy, and he's getting older, okay?
03:18
John Birdie is not 28 anymore.
03:20
I think he's closer to 38, by the way.
03:22
But, again, I'm going for a little upside here with the Cubs,
03:26
banking on some things going his way.
03:29
I'm going to guess John Birdie steals 20 bases, maybe more, this year, George.
03:32
And if that's the case, his ADP shouldn't be 844.
03:35
It should be like 644, 544.
03:38
You just named the reason why I am interested in Birdie.
03:40
Plus, Horner's out, right?
03:42
Now, he might start opening day, might not.
03:44
He might come back with surgery there.
03:45
So, there's a chance Birdie starts right away.
03:47
He's sort of a super utility guy.
03:49
He can play a number of different positions.
03:51
Now, even if Matt Shaw is a complete bust, Birdie's not going to be your everyday third baseman.
03:54
He'll play third base at times, but he's not that guy who can play third every day.
03:58
I like Birdie.
03:59
I thought he'd be much better than Yankee last year.
04:01
I kind of like that addition because I like the speed that he gives the team.
04:05
So, yeah, I agree with you.
04:06
I think he can get you bags, which is why I'm interested because I have trouble with bags.
04:09
Perfect middle infielder for me.
04:11
You know, a guy who's probably not going to hurt my average.
04:13
His running categories aren't going to be there, but I wasn't relying on him for home runs and RBIs.
04:17
I want the bags.
04:18
And I think by the end of the year, you said 20, I would go with that.
04:21
I might put the over under more like 17.5, but I would probably put the over there.
04:25
So, I kind of like the bags he can give you as well.
04:27
And I think he will play enough to matter.
04:29
Like I said, even if he doesn't start, let's just say if a giggles Horner is back,
04:32
I think he's that guy that's going to play three days a week, you know, and steal a bag a week.
04:37
That's all I'm asking.
04:38
That's 26 stolen bases a year.
04:40
I get my number right there.
04:41
So, I kind of like what Birdie can give you.
