Good day, welcome to The Gulf News Update for Thursday, October 5th. Here are the top
00:06
stories at this hour. Dubai is in the process of transforming more
00:09
than 1,000 buildings such as schools, mosques and hospitals into disability-friendly, barrier-free
00:15
spaces over the next two years. The project comes as the emirate aims to become one of
00:19
the most disabled-friendly cities by 2020. The move is part of the MyCommunity vision
00:24
of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman
00:28
of the Executive Council. US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said he
00:31
never considered leaving his job, rejecting news reports that he had denigrated President
00:35
Donald Trump. Tillerson, 65, told reporters at the State Department in Washington that
00:40
I have never considered leaving this post. The hastily called announcement followed a
00:43
report earlier Wednesday by NBC News that Tillerson considered resigning over the summer.
00:48
Trump later said in Las Vegas that he had total confidence in Tillerson.
00:52
Former Glee actor Mark Salling has reached a deal with prosecutors to plead guilty to
00:56
possession of child pornography. The plea agreement filed in federal court in Los Angeles
01:01
states the actor is admitting he possessed images of children. Prosecutors and Salling
01:06
have agreed to ask a judge to sentence the actor to a prison term of between four to
01:10
seven years. And finally, the weather stays high across
01:13
the UAE. It will be 38 degrees Celsius, dropping to 28 degrees at night. That's all for now.
