00:12Republican frontrunner Donald Trump has called for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims

00:17entering the United States, unleashing some of the most provocative and divisive remarks

00:23of his controversial presidential campaign.

00:26The shocking statement followed last week's mass shooting in California by a Muslim couple

00:31believed to have been radicalized by extremists.

00:34In a rambling 50-minute speech about the USS Yorktown late Monday, Trump read part of his

00:40statement aloud, hardening the tone and saying the halt on Muslims entering the country should

00:46remain in place until our country's representatives can figure out what was going on.

00:52Trump drew swift condemnation by presidential rivals and the White House, which denounced

00:57his call to bar Muslims as totally contrary to US values.

01:02Yemen's president told the United Nations last night that he has asked the Saudi-led

01:06coalition to begin a seven-day ceasefire on December 15 to coincide with UN-sponsored

01:12peace talks aimed at ending months of fighting.

01:17President Abdrabbuh Mansour Hadi said the ceasefire will automatically be renewed upon

01:21commitment by al-Houthis.

01:25Representatives of Syrian opposition factions arrived today for a Saudi-hosted meeting aimed

01:30at unifying their stance ahead of potential talks with the regime of President Bashar

01:35al-Assad.

01:36Meanwhile, a report by an intelligence consultancy said that the number of foreign fighters in

01:41Iraq and Syria has more than doubled since last year to at least 27,000.
