00:00The rainfall in other parts of the country is considered to be a record-breaking volume of extreme rainfall events in Puerto Princesa for almost half a century.
00:12This is Rachel Gananchia of PIA in Balitang Pambansa.
00:18The Puerto Princesa has recorded 341.7 mm rainfall on Monday.
00:24This is the highest rainfall in the history of the city since 1975 according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration or PAGASA.
00:34According to PAGASA, Puerto Princesa Station Chief Sonny Pajarilla,
00:38it was recorded earlier this morning at 5 a.m. where it surpassed the extreme rainfall events experienced in the city.
00:46The normal rainfall amount for the month of February only reached 30.7 mm
00:52and the highest recorded was on February 16, 2012 with 140.8 mm.
01:00However, after the rainstorm last Sunday, it surpassed the 269.3 mm highest rainfall in Puerto Princesa on December 29, 1975.
01:12Our total rainfall yesterday was 322.
01:17That's a lot.
01:18Breaking the standing record for about 50 years of Puerto Princesa
01:23since we established our willow reservation here.
01:28This is also compared to the amount of early rainfall that was caused by the typhoon Ondoy in 2009.
01:34The heavy rainfall from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Sunday
01:39was the reason for the flooding of some barangays in Luzon and other municipalities in Palawan.
01:45It is expected that the rain will continue until Tuesday.
01:49This is still due to the shearline or complex condition
01:52where the transport of moisture from the Pacific Ocean reaches Sulu
01:57which is more triggered due to the low-pressure area in the far southwest of Palawan.
