What do you think of the weights that came in today, Danny?
00:03
Weights, obviously Quentin are getting lighter every sale and they're definitely lighter today
00:07
than what they've been. A lot of the cattle were in that 250 to 300 bracket, but closer to the 250
00:13
than the 300. Still had that small run of heavier cattle at the start there, we've had about 11
00:18
pence on the other end, that 350 up to 400, but once you got away from that, very quickly back
00:24
to your 280s, 270s, 250s and so on, so a lighter yarding as you would expect.
00:30
And what were prices like on the different weights of steers that were in today?
00:34
Actually, I was very pleasantly surprised with the market today with what's going on
00:38
rest of the country, interstate, and then some of the markets in Victoria yesterday
00:41
were a bit worried she was going to be pretty tough, but it's actually turned out to be quite
00:45
solid, which is always pleasing to see, but your heavier feeder steers opened up around that $3.30
00:51
or thereabouts, which I'm very happy to see that at the moment. Getting to those mid-range steers,
00:57
again you're between $3.00 and $3.30, but as we got lighter it got a bit tougher and at some
01:02
stages these steers were down at $2.80, $2.90 at the lighter end. So all in all, I was happy with
01:09
the steer run. And what did you make of the prices on heifers overall? Actually very surprised,
01:15
I think that job was almost firm, it was back in places, but for what we were expecting it was a
01:20
hell of a lot better than what I thought it would be. The bottom end of that job, there were heifers
01:26
at the lighter end around that $2.20 or thereabouts, but a lot of them up around that $2.70, $2.80.
01:32
Some of those top heifers were up nudging $3.00 a kilo. The 300 plus, like 350 to 400 year feeders
01:40
were very strong on those and they were up around that $3.20, $3.30, so you can't argue with that, that's ridiculous.
