00:00President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. was appointed by the new head of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation of PhilHealth, Dr. Edwin Mercado, as the President and Chief Executive Officer of PhilHealth.
00:14This was followed by his inauguration in front of President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. in Malacanang. He replaced Emanuel Ledesma, Jr., who served as PhilHealth President for more than a year.
00:27Mercado has 35 years of experience in the hospital. He graduated from the University of the Philippines in 1987 and completed his medical sciences in Global Health Delivery from Harvard Medical School in 2023.
00:46He studied the expenses of each member for the global coverage of inpatient services. He also advises the use of artificial intelligence in community health workers in delivering primary care to the patients.
01:02In a statement, Health Secretary Chedoro Herbosa greeted Mercado and thanked Ledesma for his service.
