00:00The new CEO of PhilHealth is now starting to fix the problems in the agency

00:06so that the lost funds can be used for more effective services.

00:12Here is the report.

00:15I don't take medicine. I just look at the PhilHealth that has a disease.

00:20And I also know what the solution is.

00:23To cure the disease that PhilHealth is targeting to the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation,

00:28the new CEO of PhilHealth, Dr. Edwin Mercado, will fix the financial report of the agency.

00:35He will focus on the expenses, the lost funds, and where it should be used

00:41to increase the efficiency of the agency and to implement the necessary reforms

00:47such as digitalization that will monitor the investigation

00:50and approval of the claims submitted by the healthcare facilities.

00:55He will also provide information about the possible anomalies in the claims

01:00so that the right funds can be used to improve the service of the agency

01:05such as expanding the benefit packages or medical services that can be used or claimed in PhilHealth.

01:12I emphasize that the 20 or 30 diseases that are more limited

01:18are not necessarily the ones that cause catastrophic spending.

01:23So, I will also look at the data on the diseases that are more limited

01:27that cause catastrophic spending.

01:30And that is probably what we will focus on first.

01:33From 45% to 47%, or almost half of the hospital expenses,

01:39is paid by a patient whenever he or she gets sick.

01:43PhilHealth wants to reduce it to 30% only

01:48so that the Philippines can reduce the expenses.
