Hello, I'm Gill Buchanan, the editor of the Falkirk Herald, and I'm here to tell you about
00:05
some of the stories that are making the headlines in our print edition, which is on sale now.
00:10
As flu cases continue to rise, health chiefs have revealed that one in six beds at Forth
00:15
Valley Royal Hospital are filled by patients with the virus or other respiratory conditions.
00:21
They're asking people not to visit hospital or care homes if they feel unwell, and if
00:26
they do, to wear a mask. They also ask employers to allow staff to work from home in a bid
00:32
to reduce the spread of the virus. Our two new MPs in this area reflect on a hectic first
00:38
six months in Westminster and look forward to 2025. We've also inspiration for all those
00:46
of you looking to lose weight this year, with two slummers from Grangemouth sharing their
00:51
success stories. A family has donated over £66,000 to Strathcartan Hospice since 2018
01:00
to thank them for the care given to their mum and gran. We've all the details. And Falkirk
01:05
Fury's Keith Bunyan has handed over a cheque for £10,000 to Maggie's Forth Valley and a similar
01:11
sum to his basketball club for all the support both gave to him following his cancer diagnosis.
01:17
If you thought you'd seen the last of our festive pics, then think again as we've got more to share
01:21
with you, including Caronshore Primary School's Santa Dash in Adelstrath Caron Hospice. As the
01:28
last church service is held in the building, historian Iain Scott reflects on the history
01:33
of Bainsford Parish Church. In football, Falkirk youngster Caelan McCrone hopes his hat-trick in
01:39
the 8-0 Stirlingshire Cup win over Dumbarton will see him gain a first-team place. Meanwhile,
01:46
Stennismuir captain Gregor Buchanan has signed a new contract with the club.
01:51
We've also all the usual football, basketball, motorsport and athletics news.
01:56
All these stories and much more are in a print edition which is on sale now
02:00
and also online at www.falkirkherald.co.uk. Thank you.
