Hello, I'm Gill Buchanan, the editor of the Falkirk Herald, and I'm here to tell you about
00:04
some of the stories that are making the headlines in our print edition, which is on sale now.
00:09
The community has rushed to offer financial support to the family of two-year-old Aria
00:14
Trippney, who was diagnosed with a rare brain tumour. Within days, over £30,000 has been
00:20
raised to help the Grangewith family seek help from specialists overseas.
00:25
Groups who use Bonnybridge Community Centre are urging Falkirk Council not to close the
00:29
building within months. The groups believe they originally had two years to set up a
00:33
community asset transfer, but now the council say the building is in need of too many repairs.
00:40
A group which has set up the Home to Hospital charity to drive people living with cancer
00:44
in Stenysmyrn and Larbert for treatment and appointments outwith the district, now are
00:49
looking for more people to become involved as volunteer drivers and to fund raise for
00:53
them.
00:55
Librarian Yvonne Manning, who has inspired so many young people to read books, has received
00:59
a top award.
01:02
And it's congratulations to Peter and Marie Ledwidge of Camlin, who, after a chance meeting
01:06
at Doxey's Dance Hall, are celebrating 60 years of marriage on February 1st.
01:12
We have a review of the latest show from children's theatre group Big Bad Wolf, who are on stage
01:17
just now with Grease.
01:20
And historian Ian Scott wants us all to look up and take a closer look at some of the buildings
01:25
in our child centre and their ornamental stonework.
01:29
In sport, former Falkirk favourite Declan McManus talks about Saturday's cup semi-final,
01:34
when his current club, the New Saints from Wales, will face the Bairns.
01:39
All these stories and much, much more are in our print edition, which is on sale now,
01:43
and also online at www.falkirkherald.co.uk.
01:49
Thank you.
