00:00Hello, I'm Gill Buchanan, the editor of the Falkirk Herald, and I'm here to tell you about

00:09A family has expressed anger at the length of sentence given to the driver, whose speeding
00:15led to the death of their wife and mother. Rizvan Asal was jailed for three years at
00:20the High Court in Dundee this week after admitting causing the death of Doreen Stewart in 2022
00:25by driving dangerously. School may be out for summer, but there's still lots going on as
00:30Falkirk Council carries out £4 million of improvement works on their school buildings
00:35during the holiday period. After only one week of being open, Rosebank Distillery can now say
00:41it's a five-star visitor attraction after an award from Visit Scotland. But all is not rosy
00:47for the nearby Rosebank Beef Eater restaurant, with the owners announcing from July 5th they
00:52will only be serving meals for those staying in the neighbouring Premier Inn. We've got a
00:58fascinating story of how a group of Falkirk schoolboys took on the might of Sporting
01:02Lisbon 60 years ago after they were mistaken for the Scottish National Youth Squad. We've also got
01:08four pages of photographs from this year's Bowness Fair, Builders Europe's leading children's
01:13festival. Congratulations to Brodie Dooley of DCL joinery in Grangemouth, who has been named
01:20Apprentice of the Year. Also well done to everyone at Inchlair Early Learning Centre in
01:26Larbert for becoming Falkirk's first Frobel flag nursery, and also to all the prize winners at
01:32Larbert High School after the school held its first in-person ceremony since the pandemic.
01:39Historian Iain Scott looks at the changes made to the lint rigs in Falkirk over the years and
01:44reveals some fascinating news about what is underground. In sport we're wishing good luck
01:50to Larbert swimmer Susie McNair who is taking part in the European Junior Championships this weekend.
