00:00The National Assembly of Venezuela inaugurated its new session corresponding to the 2025-2026

00:04term and ratifies its authorities for the legislative year to come. During the installation

00:09session of the new legislative term, the Venezuelan deputies ratified Jorge Rodríguez as the Assembly's

00:15president as well as the Assembly's board for this term, including Pedro Infante as first vice

00:20president of the Assembly and América Pérez as second vice president, along with other authorities.

00:26The proposals were brought to the legislature, voted on, and then the approved members were

00:31swearing in for their functions. The first task to be assumed by the Venezuelan legislature after

00:37this installation will be to swear in President Nicolás Maduro on January 10 following his victory

00:43in the elections of July 28, 2024.

01:04Dear President, Please accept my warmest greetings. It is a pleasure to address you

01:09on this occasion to reiterate the invitation for you, as the presidential candidate elected

01:15on July 28, 2024, to take possession and duly swear in the office of President of the Bolivarian

04:01not the new, the reiterated president of the National Assembly of Venezuela is. Jorge Rodríguez

04:05is a psychiatrist and a politician who has had different positions, government positions,

04:10during Hugo Chávez and Nicolás Maduro's government. He began his political career as

04:14leader of a student movement at the Central University of Venezuela and later president

04:19of the Student Center at the Luis Racetti Medical School. He was appointed president

04:23of the National Electoral Council in 2005. Three years later, he became vice president of Venezuela.

04:28In 2008, Rodríguez was elected mayor of Caracas, a position he held until 2017.

04:34Leading the Ministry of Communication and Information in 2020, he was elected as

04:38deputy to the National Assembly and became president of the legislative branch in 2021.

05:08Abroad. He is a member of the Parliament's Permanent Commission for Internal Policies

05:12and also a member of the Parliamentary Special Commission appointed to investigate

05:15infamous statements by U.S. President-elect Donald Trump against Venezuela.

05:22And now let's see who is this newly elected second vice president of Venezuela's National

05:28Assembly, Ms. America Pérez. Congresswoman America Pérez was commissioner of Venezuela's

05:34United Socialist Party Youth Branch in the state of Nueva Espada. She is a member of the Permanent

05:41Economy, Finance and National Development Parliamentary Commission and member of

05:45Venezuela Parliamentary Friendship Groups with Japan, India, Switzerland and Azerbaijan.

05:50Pérez was ratified as second vice president of the legislative branch
