00:00Look who it is. Cody Decker from Mad Dog Radio talking hot stove. What do you think of the

00:06Yankees? What they did after they lost Soto with all the signings that they've made? Do you think

00:11they've rebounded nicely? I think they've rebounded nicely. I think what they've actually

00:16done, I said this from the get-go, this has the opportunity of being a serious blessing in

00:20disguise as long as the Yankees go out and spend some money, which they have, because they kind

00:25of let the cat out of the bag a little bit, Scotty. They made it clear that they were willing

00:29to spend $760 million. So if they walked out of this off season without spending at least half of

00:36that $760 million, this was going to be a fail and an epic fail, but it's not. What they did

00:40was they filled in the cracks and all the holes this team had. They needed a closer. Guy was

00:45swinging this stuff. Cue in Devin Williams. You needed a guy to give you a little bit of leverage

00:49for first base and the outfield. Cue in Cody Bellinger. You needed to get yourself a frontline

00:54starter. Bring in Max Freed, and he's not even your ace, and you throw that on top of Paul

00:59Goldschmidt on a really cheap one-year deal. I think Paul Goldschmidt's got plenty left in the

01:04tank, considering the fact that he hit .245 last year with, what, 56 extra bases and 22 homers.

01:09That right there alone is an upgrade at first base for the Yankees, and if the Yankees go get

01:13a third baseman, too, say like an Alex Bregman, the Yankees have won this off season and then some.

01:19Do you think he'll do well, Goldschmidt? Do you think he'll be able to hang?

01:23I think he'll be able to hang enough. Keep in mind, he doesn't need to be the Goldschmidt at

01:27all. He doesn't need to be the MVP of two years ago. He needs to be a good defensive first baseman,

01:32and he also needs to put some balls over the fence. 15, 20 home runs, if he can stay around

01:37250, absolutely he's got that in the tank, especially in that hitter-friendly spot in the

01:41Bronx. What'd you think of the Bueller deal? I thought it was a pretty little fancy move by the

01:47Boston Red Sox. One year, so not a huge impact to their entire thing. Helps them early on in

01:52the season while they're waiting for their other injured players to get back. Whitlock still hurt.

01:56You got Giolito's going to probably start the year on the IL, and then you got Sandoval,

01:59who they just signed to a two-year deal. I liked the move. I thought it was a good move right out

02:04the gate, but they need more. They can use a veteran presence in that clubhouse. I'm not

02:09against adding another arm if they have it in them. Crochet was a hell of a pickup. The Red Sox

02:14are not being quiet, but they could make one more splash. So the Dodgers, as usual,

02:21spend a lot of money, and they reload, and they're still the best team in baseball, wouldn't you think?

02:27Yes, yes, I think. As much as I'm enjoying the moves by this team and that team and this team

02:31and that, the Dodgers don't even need to make that many moves, and the moves they made already were

02:35fantastic. You know, bringing back Tommy Edmond, who was a huge impact player for this team,

02:39and frankly, the only thing I'm waiting for is when's Te'Oscar signing back. They could really

02:44use Te'Oscar Hernandez and Kike Hernandez. Outside of that, there's nothing else the Dodgers need.

02:49Reminder, the Dodgers are getting back Dustin May. They might get back Tony Gonsolin. They're

02:54getting back Tyler Glass now, and they're getting back Shohei Ohtani. That's four pitchers they

02:59didn't even have in the World Series, man, and they're getting them all back. Who's to say they

03:03don't go and grab Rokey Sasaki as well? I think he's gonna end up being a padre, but the Dodgers,

03:09I don't think, are done either. I wanted to get Te'Oscar in New York, to be honest with you,

03:14with the Yankees, and I guess that's not happening.

03:18Nah, it doesn't look like there's any space for him. We currently have the spots locked up. It

03:21looks like with Bellinger joining the team, center field, and maybe occasionally over at first base

03:25to expel out Paul Goldschmidt, then you kind of don't really need another guy. I thought,

03:30honestly, if they were going to look for another outfield bat, I thought they were going to

03:33actually look at Anthony Santander. He would be relatively cheap, all things considered,

03:38and I thought it brought another left-handed bat to the lineup, but you know what? They went out

03:42and got Paul Goldschmidt, which made the versatility of Cody Bellinger pretty versatile.

03:46Why hasn't he gotten a gig yet, Santander?

03:49I have no idea. I don't know if he's just lower on the pecking order right now. I think there

03:54are a lot of teams that would be interested. San Francisco comes to mind. I'm sure that the

03:58Seattle Mariners come to mind. The Toronto Blue Jays seems like a perfect fit, not to mention

04:04where the hell he just has been. Why aren't the Orioles bringing him back? Also, on top of that,

04:08why aren't the Orioles doing anything?

04:11I mean, how about Toronto? What did they do? They always lose out on everybody.

04:16They lose out on everybody, and they end up with nobody, and again, I've said this everywhere who

04:21will listen. Everyone talks about Steve Cohen being so, so damn rich, and he is,

04:24$16 billion, but Mr. Rogers up there in Toronto, that dude's got $9 billion. He's been the richest

04:31owner of Major League Baseball since Jump when he actually got into the gig. I don't know why

04:36this team won't spend the money that they need to spend to compete because that team's got the

04:41entire country on their back. I firmly believe this. If the Toronto Blue Jays are good, it will

04:47hasten the re-existence and re-emergence of the Montreal Expos because Manfred already said he

04:52wants to expand baseball by 2029 by two teams. Montreal, let's get back into Canada, bro.

04:58How do you think that 15-year deal Soto got's going to pan out for him, like health-wise,

05:05everything else? He got all the money in the world. Do you think it'll pan out?

05:09I think it'll pan out for the next five to ten years, and what I honestly think is we're looking

05:14at a guy who's eventually going to be a DH. I honestly thought the money for this guy was

05:18foolish from the get-go. I never understood it. Shoei Ohtani made sense to me. You're roughly

05:22giving him a 20-year deal because it's sparsed out over 20 years, and you're paying for two

05:27separate players, the pitcher and then the hitter, so that's $350 million each for each one of those

05:32players. I honestly think Soto will be a DH in five to seven years, and he turns 35 years in,

05:39and that's a pretty big deal because he also has that opt-out of which Steve Cohen can immediately

05:44void by making an $805 million contract, but keep in mind he still leads another 10 years on that

05:49deal. How does it work out? If they got no rings after 10 years, it didn't work out.

05:56Do you like the Lizardo deal that the Phillies pulled off?

05:59I do. I do, but it made me disappointed in what in the living hell are the Miami Marlins? This

06:05is a team that was in the playoffs two years ago, and they celebrated that playoff berth two years

06:10ago by giving Kim Ng, the first female GM in Major League Baseball, a new boss that she had

06:15to answer to, so she skipped out of town, and they've just been selling off all their decent

06:21assets ever since. Everyone looks over at the Oakland A's, well, the Sacramento A's,

06:27and gets mad at them, as they should, and trust me, I have a lot to say on that,

06:31but someone should really get mad at what's happening in Miami. It's been a calamity down

06:35there. What did you think when the Cubs landed Tucker? Shocked me. Literally surprised me,

06:41just because this has been a team that hasn't made a whole lot of noise as of late,

06:45and Tucker was a great pickup. I heard a lot of people around the Bronx begging for Kyle Tucker

06:50here in Yankee Stadium. I thought that was kind of a fool's errand. I didn't think there was any

06:54chance they would trade him over here to the New York Yankees, but for the Cubs, a lot of on-base,

06:59a lot of stolen base, ton of power. He is a phenomenal pickup over there. If the Cubs could

07:04just go get another arm, I wish they would go and get in the Burns saga, but they simply already

07:08announced that they won't do it. If they can just get another frontline arm, the Cubs should run

07:13away with this division, because the Brewers look like they're going to take a step back.

07:17The Reds are starting to improve. The Pirates need to come into their own, but the only team

07:21that's seemingly ready to make that jump is the Cubs, so for the love of God, spend some money.

07:26The Pirates don't spend money. You know that. Their payroll's a joke.

07:31They never spend money. Never will. Never will. They signed today, re-signed Andrew McCutcheon.

07:36Love the fit for him, just because, you know, it's kind of a going home thing for him,

07:40but no, they never spend money, which is why I find it funny that everyone's talking about

07:44locking up Skeens now. Skeens now? That guy might be the billion-dollar guy in five years.

07:50There's no way he's going to get locked up over there now. Can you believe they were going to get

07:54rid of some of their pitchers, like, you know, Keller? They were talking about getting rid of

07:59Jones. Are they crazy? They're nuts. They're nuts. Well, they're just a franchise that refuses to

08:04spend. They make money hand over fist and feel like they've been fleecing that wonderful city

08:09of Pittsburgh forever. That's a team that should be good. We've seen them in the playoffs,

08:14in the last 10 years. Remember that blackout they had with Garrett Cole on the mound?

08:17Dude, give me some good Pirates baseball. They're young and they're hungry, but that

08:21ownership is always going to stand right in the way. My man, Cody, Merry Christmas,
