One p.m. Eastern time DRS to Kansas City where the Chiefs will host the Houston Texans.
00:09
And the question still remains, I guess, will it be Patrick Mahomes or Carson Wentz for
00:15
a pivotal Week 16 game between KC and Houston?
00:20
Now the Texans can improve their seating, I guess, within the AFC playoff picture, but
00:27
Houston seems right now pretty firmly into the fourth spot as Houston has clinched a
00:33
second consecutive AFC South championship last week with a win against Miami off the
00:38
by and a Colts loss in Denver.
00:42
The Chiefs, the R.S., need to win two of their final three to hold on to that one seed within
00:48
the AFC.
00:49
So helping them do so, who is starting at quarterback on Saturday, Patrick Mahomes or
00:55
Carson Wentz?
00:57
It's going to be Patrick Mahomes.
00:58
If Mahomes didn't play this week, then they might have been saying to themselves, you
01:01
know, this is a true high ankle sprain.
01:03
It hurts him.
01:04
We really need the guy.
01:05
But let's skip this game at home because we're going to need a more healthy for that Christmas
01:09
Day game, which you're going to play at Pittsburgh.
01:11
Doesn't look like that's the case here.
01:12
Looks like he's healthy enough to go.
01:13
But also there is chance for reinjury here, Ben.
01:16
There's a chance that this, you know, ankle never heals up appropriately over the next
01:19
three weeks that they're going to play.
01:21
And also, you are not playing in Kansas City in September on nice soft surfaces here at
01:26
80 degrees and you can get real loose and limber.
01:29
You're talking about, once again, sub freezing conditions in Kansas City where, you know,
01:33
if you're in the pocket, you better protect them.
01:36
And those two tackles haven't done that good a job this year in protecting him where he's
01:39
going to be on an island.
01:40
The question always is not for the football player.
01:43
Can he hurt himself?
01:44
It's can he protect himself?
01:45
He said, well, what do you mean a quarterback protecting himself?
01:47
Well, if you can't get in and out of the pocket and slide one way or another to avoid the
01:51
pass rush, you can get not only an ankle injury, a knee injury, a hip injury, a back injury,
01:56
an arm injury just by taking so many shots.
01:59
That's what we're going to be watching for this game.
02:00
So for me, he is going to be playing quarterback.
02:02
I do think they beat Houston.
02:03
Now, there is something to be said about this, Ben.
02:06
Yes, Kansas City, the pressure technically is on them.
02:09
They have to win to keep that number one seat alive, which I do believe they get.
02:13
From a Houston perspective, I don't think they're going to be able to move up any more
02:16
than they already are as a champion of their division, which means they'll get a home playoff
02:20
game.
02:21
But we're too far removed from them to be in celebration mode.
02:24
Let's cruise for the next three weeks and then flip the switch once we get into the
02:27
playoffs.
02:28
You know, they're going to be up for this game at Kansas City, but still a short workweek
02:32
here for me.
02:33
It's going to be Kansas City that's going to win this football game, probably in a lower
02:36
scoring game.
02:37
But the interesting part is like if you're looking from a prop perspective in this game,
02:39
for me, it's not so much the passing yard to Patrick Mahome, the quick passes, the Xavier
02:44
Worthy rocket screen to the outside, Kelsey over the middle reinvigorated now that he
02:48
knows I got three seconds to get open because we can't leave my quarterback in the pocket.
02:52
Those are the plays I'm looking for, but I do think Kansas City, as long as Mahomes is
02:56
in bed, they win this game.
