Scattered rains to affect several areas across PH

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has observed three weather systems bringing scattered rains and thunderstorms across the country on Wednesday, Dec. 11.  In its 4am bulletin, PAGASA stated that the shearline continues to affect the eastern sections of Central and Southern Luzon, while the northeast monsoon, locally known as "amihan", covers Northern and Central Luzon areas. Meanwhile, the easterlies is observed on the rest of the country. 00:01Three different weather systems are still operating in our country.

00:05The first one is the North-East Monsoon or Hanging Amihan which is still warming.

00:09Here in a large part of Northern Luzon, the cold temperature is still increasing.

00:14The hot wind from Silangan, also known as the Eastern Lees,

00:18is affecting a large part of Visayas and Mindanao,

00:21and it is also causing rain in the eastern sections.

00:24And the third one is the Sheer Line.

00:26This is the line where the cold wind from Amihan and the hot Eastern Lees meet.

00:32And when this hot and cold wind is combined,

00:34there are chances of rain and thunderstorms.

00:37As can be seen in our latest satellite animation,

00:40there are continuous thunderstorms in some areas of Central and Southern Luzon.

00:44And based on our latest satellite animation,

00:47we do not see any typhoons entering our Philippine area of responsibility until the weekend.

00:54It will still rain in many areas of Luzon because it is still the North-East Monsoon,

00:58which is one of the Amihan,

01:00and it will bring mild to moderate rain here in the areas of Cagayan Valley

01:05and some parts of the Cordillera Administrative Region,

01:08such as Calinga, Apayao, Mountain Province, and Ifugao.

01:12So be careful of floods and landslides,

01:15especially in the areas of Cordillera and Caraballo Mountain Ranges.

01:20Meanwhile, here in some parts of the Cordillera Region,

01:24Benguet, Abra, Ilocos Region,

01:27and this left part of Central Luzon,

01:29Cabina ng Zambales, Bataan, Pampanga, and Tarlac,

01:32the sky is partly cloudy until the sky is cloudy,

01:35and it is still accompanied by mild to moderate rain effects of the North-East Monsoon.

01:41To our countrymen here in this part of Central Luzon,

01:44it is still expected that there will be heavy rains due to the shear line

01:48or the heat and cold winds of Aurora, Nueva Ecija, Bulacan,

01:54up to Metro Manila,

01:56a large part of Calabarzon, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur,

02:00and the province of Catanduanes.

02:02So make sure that you have an umbrella if you are going out of your house.

02:05It is possible that there will be more or less 100 mm of rain

02:09that is moderate to heavy or intense rains at times

02:13in Quezon, Aurora, and Camarines Norte

02:16while we have moderate to heavy rains in other places

02:20that we have mentioned, but still be careful of flooding and landslides.

02:24In the remaining part of Luzon,

02:26including Mimaropa and the remaining part of Bicol Region,

02:30the sky is partly cloudy until the sky is still cloudy,

02:32and it is accompanied by mild to moderate rains or heat and cold winds.

02:36There is a high chance that it will reach the afternoon to the evening.

02:39In Metro Manila, the temperature is from 25 to 30 degrees Celsius,

02:43and due to the influence of the flood,

02:45our temperatures are also decreasing gradually

02:48in a large part of Northern and Central Luzon,

02:50and in Baguio, from 17 to 24 degrees Celsius.

02:54Our countrymen should also bring an umbrella

02:57to the eastern sections of Visayas and Mindanao

02:59because it will still be affected by the Easter Leaves

03:02or the wind from the east,

03:04Eastern Samar, Dinagat Islands,

03:06Surigao del Norte and Surigao del Sur,

03:26These are the areas of Southern Leyte up to Bohol,

03:30Southern Cebuat, and the eastern part of Negros Island Region.

03:34These are also the areas affected by the Volcano Canlaon.

03:39The rain will be expected there.

03:41Meanwhile, in the remaining part of Mindanao,

03:43it is partly cloudy until the sun is still shining in the morning,

03:46but there are also areas where it will reach the afternoon

03:48to the evening where there will be scattered rain and thunderstorms.

03:52These are the remaining parts of the Caraga Region and Davao Region,

03:56as well as the southern portions of Basilan, Sulu-Tawitawi,

04:00and the southern portion of Sok Sarjen.

04:02The temperature in Palawan is still possible to be a bit hot,

04:06up to 32 degrees Celsius.

04:08In a large part of Visayas, it is from 26 to 31 degrees Celsius.

04:13Meanwhile, here in Mindanao, it is from 25 degrees,

04:16but it is still the hottest in Zamboanga City and Cotabato,

04:19up to 34 degrees Celsius.

04:22For our fellow countrymen,

04:24we do not have a high-level gale warning

04:26because the winds are not that strong for now.

04:30But our waves here in the big town of Luzon

04:33plus the eastern seaboards of Visayas and Mindanao

04:36are a bit wavy, up to 3.4 meters,

04:38or it is on the floor of a house

04:40where the waves are high in a large part of the Caragatan.

04:43So be careful.

04:44It is still possible for our small sea vessels to be affected.

04:46The waves will be dangerous.

04:48But here in the remaining town of Visayas and Mindanao,

04:51the waves are moderate to moderate.

05:00Northeast monsoon here in Northern Luzon

05:03is still shearline in Central and Southern Luzon.

05:12when the Intertropical Convergence Zone is still active

05:15or the wind waves from the Northern and Southern Hemispheres.

05:18In Northern Luzon, from Thursday to Saturday,

05:21the cold weather is still expected

05:23and it will be accompanied by mild to moderate rains

05:26in Cagayan Valley

05:27and a large part of the Cordillera Administrative Region.

05:30Only mild to moderate rains in Ilocos Region

05:33and the left part of Central Luzon.

05:35For our countrymen in Aurora,

05:37it is still there in Quezon

05:39and some parts of Camarines Norte, Laguna, Rizal,

05:42Aurora, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija,

05:45where there are still mild to moderate rains.

05:47At some point, until Thursday,

05:49it will be affected by the shearline or the winds

05:51of Amihan and Easterly.

05:53So make sure that we have an umbrella

05:55and still be careful of flood and landslides.

05:58And finally, here in the eastern sides of our country,

06:01in Visayas and Mindanao,

06:03as part of the Eastern Visayas,

06:04Caraga and Davao Region,

06:06there are scattered rains.

06:07Our rains are more frequent in those areas

06:10and in this part of Visayas and Mindanao,

06:13the rains will also be frequent

06:15from afternoon to night,

06:16from Thursday to Saturday.

06:18That is the effect of Easterly

06:19plus the Intertropical Convergence Zone.

06:22So it is always good for our rainfall advisories

06:24and even heavy rainfall warnings

06:26in a large part of our country.
