00:00Good evening and welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office.

00:04Staying dry largely across the south, but there is change ahead across the far north

00:07of Scotland.

00:08And that's thanks to this cold front sinking south as we head through the evening and through

00:12Saturday, introducing some cooler air across the UK for the weekend, with some further

00:17frontal systems waiting out in the wings to start the new week.

00:21Back to this evening, though, so this is the frontal system draped across the far north

00:24of Scotland, giving some squally outbursts of rain, so quite short, sharp, gusty conditions

00:29on that frontal band, sinking further south and ahead of that, a fair amount of cloud

00:33and some drizzle over some higher ground as well.

00:36So ahead of this frontal band, still fairly mild, so 10 or 11 degrees underneath the front

00:41itself, but further south with some clear spells, we could still see temperatures down

00:45into the single figures with some frost and perhaps some fog patches around as well.

00:49Notably cooler, though, to the north of the front, so 6 or 7 degrees to start the day

00:54for Northern Ireland and Scotland.

00:57And as we head through the rest of Saturday then, so this frontal system is going to be

01:00slowly sinking south as we head through the day, a largely cloudy day for Wales and England

01:06with some outbreaks of rain, particularly as we head through the afternoon to the north

01:09of this.

01:10This is the cool air moving in behind the front, so it's likely to see some fairly blustery

01:15conditions, particularly across the north coast of Northern Ireland and parts of Scotland

01:19as well.

01:20Some of these turning wintry over high ground and temperatures noticeably cooler here.

01:23Scotland and Northern Ireland still in the single figures during the day, holding on

01:27to some milder conditions, perhaps up to 13 degrees across the southern half of the UK.

01:33Heading through Saturday evening then, so that frontal band will slowly continue to

01:37sink further south as we head into the early hours, giving some clearer conditions and

01:41a cold flow across most of the UK, still holding on to some showers along some coastal parts

01:47as well.

01:48Temperatures then starting the day on Sunday, noticeably cooler than of late, widespread

01:53frost expected across parts of northern Scotland, northern England and again, frost patches

01:58likely to see in some sheltered spots under clear skies starting the day on Sunday.

02:04So a fairly bright and cool start to the day if you're down the eastern half of the country,

02:08but we do already have this frontal system starting to push into Northern Ireland during

02:12the start of Sunday morning.

02:14That will continue to move eastwards as we head through the day, perhaps turning to snow

02:18over the very high ground of Scotland for a time.

02:22Temperatures again starting to turn a little bit milder with the mild air coming in with

02:25this frontal system, but it's still fairly cool across Scotland, six or seven degrees

02:30down the east coast in that cooler air, 10, 11 or 12 in the mild air across the southwest.

02:38But as I'm sure you're all aware, there is a risk of snow on the way.

02:41So we do have a warning for snow showers and ice across the far north of Scotland as we

02:46head through Sunday afternoon into Monday.

02:48But it's this second frontal system arriving in Monday morning where we do have another

02:53warning in force as well, likely to turn snowy in that boundary of mild and cool air as it

02:58crosses the Pennines into the start of Monday and Tuesday.
