Good evening and welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office. Rain arriving
00:05
from the west as we head through this evening but many places staying cool and cloudy through
00:10
tonight. This is the satellite image from earlier today so a fairly cloudy picture for
00:14
much of the UK, a few hazy breaks further east and we're starting to see that rain already
00:19
pushing in through the afternoon. And back to this evening, this is where the rain will
00:24
be around 6pm, slowly starting to turn more persistent across the north west of Scotland.
00:28
This is the main area of heavy rain pushing into Cornwall and parts of Wales and Devon
00:33
through this evening. Heavy downpours here and fairly blustery conditions as that slowly
00:37
moves eastwards through the early hours of Monday. So with the cloud and with those strengthening
00:42
winds it's going to be notably milder to start on Monday, 12 or 13 degrees on the south coast
00:48
of the UK and in the south west as well. Further north there will still be single figure locations
00:55
for parts of Northern Ireland and also Scotland as well under clear skies and there could
00:59
still be a rural grass frost as well in a few spots but certainly less widespread than
01:04
we've seen for the last couple of days. So still some cool crisp autumnal mornings across
01:10
Scotland and Northern Ireland but grey and wet to start the day for much of Wales and
01:15
the southern half of England. That rain will slowly and steadily move eastwards through
01:19
the morning becoming lighter, most places dry by the time we head into the afternoon,
01:23
just some rain lingering on that North Sea coast and also some rain lingering for the
01:28
far north west of Scotland. For parts of Scotland though we will see some drier and brighter
01:33
conditions and with that southerly flow temperatures will be picking up a little bit so likely
01:37
to get into the double figures on Monday for Scotland, Northern Ireland and Northern England.
01:44
Further south again milder but with the cloud cover again it's still going to be feeling
01:48
fairly cool out so the 16 degrees in the far south west is probably the mildest that
01:53
we'll see on Monday. Heading through the rest of Monday then so that cloud is pretty stubborn,
01:58
it's going to linger on as we head through the evening and as we start to see that southerly
02:03
breeze pick up into the early hours of Tuesday it's going to spread that cloud again up most
02:08
of the UK. So still some clear spots lingering on for parts of north east Scotland and here
02:14
we could still see temperatures down in towards the single figures but it's going to be noticeably
02:18
milder again still in towards Tuesday morning, more widespread cloud and wind to start the
02:24
day on Tuesday. So a very cloudy and blustery start on Tuesday, these winds will be strengthening
02:31
and noticeably on coasts and some over some high ground particularly for parts of Scotland
02:36
through Tuesday. On high ground we may just see a few drizzly outbreaks as well before
02:42
we see some further showers arriving from the west later on in the afternoon on Tuesday.
02:47
So again as we go through the next couple of days those temperatures beginning to creep
02:50
up 17 or 18 as a maximum across the southern half of the UK. Again just creeping into double
02:57
figures across the far north but still it's going to be a fairly cloudy affair and if
03:01
you're on those coasts and in those exposed winds again it could still feel fairly chilly
03:06
too. Moving through Tuesday evening we start to see further showers moving in from the
03:13
west so if you want to check out what Wednesday has in store please do look at our YouTube
