The Kelly Deli owner announces her retirement

Brenda Hallowell, the owner of Hebburn's Kelly Deli, has announced her retirement.

00:00Well, I've totally enjoyed it. Totally, totally enjoyed it. I just get on with it, you know,

00:06like sometimes I do a 12-hour shift and I just get on with it and just do it and I can do a

00:11buffet in my sleep actually. I take great pleasure out of seeing a, you know, like a big catering job

00:17done and I'll miss that probably more. And the customers, I've known them for years and years,

00:24a lot of them, and I will miss that. I will have everything that. I had a stroke in March,

00:30and I need a hip replacement and all. It's just starting to tell on us. I'm not as fast as I used

00:35to be and I just think it's time, it's time to go, you know, like it's starting to take it easy

00:40and things and travel the world I suppose. Try and travel the world anyway. My plans is, well,

00:45I'm going to India for a month very shortly and just back, like back and forwards over there

00:51because it's my favourite place really. I love it and then just travel. Really, I enjoy travelling

00:57and then see I need a hip and I'll get that done I think March and once that's done I'll

01:02be no stopping this I don't suppose.
