PAGASA not ruling out ‘Leon’ super typhoon status; Signal No. 5 possible

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has not ruled out the possibility that Severe Tropical Storm “Leon” (international name: Kong-rey) could intensify into a super typhoon. 00:05645 kilometers east of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan.

00:10And this severe tropical storm is still going on,

00:12although it's getting stronger.

00:14There's a strong wind of 110 kilometers per hour.

00:18There's a thunderstorm of 135 kilometers per hour

00:22and it's moving west-northwestward at a speed of 10 kilometers per hour.

00:26If we can see here in our latest satellite image,

00:29the rainbands of this León Flood are affecting parts of Bicol Region

00:34and also some parts of Eastern Visayas.

00:36And as this storm is getting closer,

00:39the rainbands will most likely fall during the rainy season

00:44here in the eastern part of Luzon.

00:46That's why our people are continuously being careful

00:49because there are still possibilities of rain today.

00:52Especially in areas that are currently experiencing flooding.

00:57Later, we will know the areas that may experience heavy rainfall

01:02in the next few days.

02:09even if it does not landfall,

02:11it is possible that it will approach the center.

02:13Our next landfall scenario

02:15is here in the southeastern portion of Taiwan.

02:23there is a high possibility that this León Flood will get stronger

02:27as the east coast of our country continues to move.

03:33Isabela, Quirino,

03:35as well as Nueva Vizcaya,

05:19Meanwhile, moderate to heavy rains

05:21in Ilocos Sur, Isabela, Abra, Calinga,

05:24Calamian Islands, Romblon,

05:26Negros Occidental, and Aclan.
