00:00
Good morning, let's first update on the Tropical Depression Christine that we are monitoring.
00:07
This is Christine.
00:09
Earlier, at 4 in the afternoon, she was at a distance of 760 kilometers east of Katarman, northern Samar.
00:16
She was experiencing strong winds that reached 55 kilometers per hour
00:21
and storms that reached 70 kilometers per hour.
00:24
She was moving in the direction of Canluran in a speed of 15 kilometers per hour.
00:29
So, comparing the wind speed earlier at 11 a.m., this is a bit slower.
00:34
We can also see in our satellite image that although Christine is a bit far away,
00:41
her circulation is wide.
00:44
Although the direct effect here in the eastern part of Southern Luzon and Eastern Visayas,
00:50
her travel extension will affect a large part of our country.
00:54
That is why it is possible that it will affect a large part of our country.
01:00
What are we expecting with regards to Christine's track?
01:04
So, in the next 12 hours, it is possible that she will reach the Tropical Storm category.
01:10
So, if Christine becomes a Tropical Storm, it is possible that we will see storm surge warnings.
01:16
By Wednesday, it is possible that it will become a Severe Tropical Storm
01:21
or a Typhoon category by Thursday before it landfalls around the Northern Luzon area.
01:27
So, before it landfalls in our country, it is possible that it will slow down.
01:31
That is why we will feel the strong rains and strong winds.
01:35
That is why we will be with you in the upcoming updates of Pag-asa
01:39
as well as the Regional Services Division for the Rainfall Advisory,
01:43
Heavy Rainfall Warning, or Thunderstorm Advisory.
01:47
Like what we mentioned earlier, it is possible that it will landfall in the Northern Luzon area
01:52
by Thursday evening or Friday morning.
01:55
We will also see that it will landfall in the area of uncertainty or cone of probability.
02:01
Not only in the Northern Luzon area, but also in the other parts of Central Luzon.
02:06
That is why we are always on the lookout for changes in the track
02:10
because we do not rule out changes in the forecast track.
02:15
We also do not rule out rapid intensification.
02:19
That is why we will be with you in the upcoming updates of our agency.
02:27
We also have a high signal number 1.
02:30
This is currently the highest tropical cyclone wind signal
02:33
in the southeastern portion of Isabela, Aurora,
02:37
northern and eastern portion of Quezon as well as Polilio Island,
02:41
Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon,
02:46
Masbate as well as Anticao and Buryas Islands.
02:50
In Visayas, the highest signal number 1 is in Eastern Samar,
02:54
Northern Samar, Samar, Leyte, Biliran and Southern Leyte.
03:00
In Mindanao, the signal number 1 is high.
03:02
In Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte as well as Siargao and Bucas Grande Islands.
03:08
It is possible that the highest tropical cyclone wind signal
03:11
for Christine is the signal number 4.
03:15
So even if Christine is stronger,
03:19
we do not rule out the possibility of a higher tropical cyclone wind signal.
03:26
We also expect strong winds today in Batanes,
03:31
Ilocos Norte, Cagayan, southern portion of Palawan,
03:34
Siquijor, Bohol, Zamboanga Peninsula, northern Mindanao,
03:38
Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, Agusan del Norte,
03:41
Barm, Sarangani, Del Sur, Davao Oriental.
03:46
Tomorrow, in Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Norte,
03:49
Ilocos Sur, Palawan, Romblon, Aklan, Antique, Negros Island Region,
03:54

03:59

04:05
Sarangani, Davao del Sur, and Davao Oriental.
04:08
And when Wednesday comes,
04:10
strong winds are possible in Mimaropa, Visayas, and Mindanao.
04:16
We also issued a weather advisory for this cyclone.
04:23
Today, until tomorrow afternoon,
04:26
strong rains are possible, heavy to intense,
04:29
in Catanduanes, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, and northern Samar.
04:33
Moderate to heavy in Romblon, Marinduque, Quezon,
04:36
southern portion of Bicol Region, and southern portion of eastern Visayas.
04:42
Tomorrow afternoon, in Catanduanes, Camarines Norte, and Camarines Sur.
04:50
Heavy to intense, 100 to 200 mm of rain,
04:54
in northern Bicol Region, northern Samar, Samar, and eastern Samar.
04:59
Moderate to heavy rains, 50 to 100 mm,
05:03
in Micaguayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region,
05:06
in eastern Visayas, Quezon, Romblon, Marinduque, and Aurora.
05:12
For strong rains, Wednesday afternoon to Thursday afternoon,
05:17
heavy to intense in Micaguayan, Isabela, Apayau, Aurora, and Quezon.
05:22
Moderate to heavy in the southern part of Cordillera Administrative Region,
05:26
southern part of Cagayan Valley, and Ilocos Region.
05:29
Again, we are always up to date with the upcoming updates
05:32
of our regional services, division, and heavy rainfall warnings.
05:37
We are hoping that in elevated areas or mountainous areas,
05:43
it is possible that the rains will be stronger,
05:45
but be careful in low-lying areas and flood-prone areas,
05:49
in areas prone to flooding or landslides.
05:53
We also have elevated gale warnings here in Camarines Norte,
05:58
northern and eastern coasts of Camarines Sur,
06:00
eastern coasts of Albay, in Catanduanes,
06:03
eastern coasts of Sorsogon,
06:05
and the northern and eastern coasts of northern Samar.
06:09
If possible, our countrymen should not go abroad.
06:12
There are small boats or motorbikes in areas prone to flooding
06:18
or landslides, because it will be flood-prone.
06:23
Here, we are hoping that our country will generally be flood-prone,
06:29
but we can expect floods in the northern coasts of the Philippines
06:35
and the eastern coasts of the Philippines.
