Cincinnati Bengals LOSE to Eagles: Instant REACTION and Analysis after 37-17 loss.

00:09imploded they certainly didn't explode and

00:11Struggled on their way to a 37 to 17 loss here at PayCore Stadium

00:15I thought today at least would be the day where we would do one of these after a home game this year

00:21Following a win as you know, at least always joins me during our post game show post game report at home games

00:27Well, no the Bengals fall to 0-4 at home

00:29They got off to a great start and if one of these guys runs into us, well, that's not gonna

00:35That's not gonna go well for them, but it didn't go well for the Bengals either

00:40The Eagles scored on all of their second half possessions. The Bengals got off to a hot start and then fizzled on offense

00:46Where is your mind at right now when you think of this now three and five Bengals team?

00:50I did not expect the Cincinnati Bengals to not only be 0-4 at home

00:56But to get trounced in front of their home crowd like this is this is the one stadium

01:01In the nation that you should be winning in you just got your butts kicked by 20 points

01:06I mean I can see how the fans are dejected and they are pissed off at coaching and play calling and all that stuff

01:13and I

01:15Definitely noticed that some of the players were visibly upset. Oh after this loss

01:21some of these guys just seemed totally outside of their minds like they were just

01:24I can't even explain it. I'm usually you see that kind of reaction after a playoff loss or after a really big game, but

01:32Mid-season you don't see that very often. Yeah, and I think it's because of

01:37What they what is going on behind us? It's a dumpster fire right now. Yeah chaos. It describes this game and

01:44Let's get to the fourth in one because I think that's where the game really

01:49Changes and gets away from the Bengals and that's it. So they're down

01:5424 to 17 and

01:56Fourth and one Joe runs for I think it was seven yards on the first down second down

02:01They pick up a couple of yards. They fell on third and one fourth and one

02:04It's this Jamar chase motion in the backfield throw it behind the line of scrimmage. I tweeted it at the time

02:11You just rolled your eyes

02:12I don't think anyone liked that play like throwing the ball to Jamar three yards behind the line of scrimmage regardless of the coverage

02:19Because you're one tackle away from being off the field now and the Eagles made that tackle and put the

02:25Essentially, that's when they ran away with the game your thoughts on that play the play call all of the above

02:30Well, first of all, I felt like that drive just kind of fizzled out

02:34And I know that everyone's been calling for Zach Taylor to be more aggressive in his play calling including us

02:39Like we've been anxious to see Zach Taylor as a more aggressive play caller

02:43And so I don't mind the fourth and one play call to go for it, right?

02:49but

02:50To throw the ball from behind the line of scrimmage. Why not a quarterback sneak?

02:55Why not run the ball at the gut? Why why not try some it's fourth and one

03:00It's not fourth and long. Why are we doing that?

03:02I don't I don't understand the play call, but I do appreciate the aggression on fourth down

03:07No doubt the decision in the moment. I'm like, oh I would go for it here. Yeah your defense by the way

03:12It's still the right decision because the defense is still waiting for its first second half stop

03:17They never got one in the second half. And so what when your defense is playing that way you need to convert

03:22It's fourth and short. Anyways, you know what? I want to fund the Eagles a

03:27Pass to Jamar chase three yards behind the line of scrimmage

03:30That's what I want a pass to Jamar chase is much much different even like I'm okay even passing the ball

03:36They're passing T and they couldn't run the ball. Well today

03:39But that play certainly won in the moment. I think we were all like, uh

03:43Hate it and they never recovered. That's the point of no return. They never recovered

03:47they were down 10 the next time they touched the ball and

03:50Joe burrow throws a deep ball to chase it gets intercepted intercepted everything unravels then but the crazy part to me is

03:58How different this game?

04:00Went versus how it felt early

04:03Joe is rolling

04:04They go on a 17 play drive 70-yard touchdown drive to yard touchdown to Jamar chase

04:09Then on the their second drive third and 22 Joe burrows just shaken free and making plays

04:16I mean this felt like one of those games where Joe was just gonna have a day through for a buck 69 in

04:22The first half and it was tied and that's when the alarm bell started going off in my head like they played really really well

04:28And it's tied

04:31Big problem that they went into halftime tied. I mean that first drive they took 10 minutes off the clock

04:37They were five of five on third down and I was like no penalties and I'm thinking oh my gosh

04:43Is this the cleanest drive that we've ever seen from the Bengals like in 2024 not ever but in 2024

04:48This is the cleanest drive we've seen from them. And then Jim Schwartz was like, yeah, you're not you're not doing that again

04:54No, we're not doing that

04:56Their failure to run the ball. I know they're a pass heavy team. I know they're a pass first team

05:10He's been around the league for a very very long time as we both know and he made the corrections

05:15He didn't allow the Bengals to have another clean drive

05:17It felt like it really didn't feel like they were clicking anymore. And obviously it's gonna be more difficult with T Higgins

05:24Not able to play in the game. They're gonna double Jamar chase. It makes Jamar Chase's job a lot harder

05:30but you just

05:32you expected them to lean a little bit more into the run because that's what they had been talking about all week also like

05:37making corrections to their run game and

05:40showing more of a run look at least nothing and

05:44Yeah

05:45To be desired. I think yeah in in defensively. Oh, I mean, that's the problem with this game before that

05:52We got to get to Evan Evan McPherson missed another 50-yard attempt. That was another game-changing

05:57Play momentum changing play they had a chance to go up 13 to 3 instead

06:00It's still 10 3 then you're going to have time tied 10 to 10. I do think that that was a big play big moment

06:07the Jermaine Burton

06:09Touchdown that was almost a touchdown, but wasn't and it was a really nice play by Darius slay

06:14But Joe admitted he was like, yeah, I left that one just a little short

06:18Let's leg it in there a little bit, but Burton did make a nice play today

06:2241-yard grab that set up Evan McPherson Smith's to be exact Mike a sick. He stepped up without T Higgins out

06:29But I think it's a couple of things one

06:31The offense started hot, but it's hard to sustain that without T without Orlando it is

06:38To the turnovers huge three. The defense just couldn't get a stop and that's where I mean if you're saying, all right

06:46Yeah at halftime this defense is not going to get another stop and give up five straight scores in the second half

06:53You're not gonna win many games. That's just the bottom line

06:55Yeah, not to unload on the defense, but what have they gotten a lot of stops at home this year?

06:59They gave up 38 to Washington. They gave a 41 to Baltimore and 37 to the Eagles today

07:04It makes me wonder when you give up that many points at home. What's going on when you're at home? Is there distractions?

07:11That are hampering your ability to come out and play your best ball because they look their best when they're on the road

07:18So it makes me wonder if there are outside factors may be contributing to the play that we see when they play a pay course at you

07:24One of the outside factors is just not being able to get off the field on third and long

07:30What for whatever reason that is I mean third and 16 and we talked with Mike Hilton after

07:36Andrew's gonna post all of this Bengals reaction video Joe Burrow and Zack Taylor already up, but you interviewed Jordan battle

07:43I interviewed Mike Hilton you interviewed Mike a sickie. I interviewed Sam Hubbard

07:47I mean, there's a ton of reaction coming your way. So make sure that you check that out

07:51But yeah, like they're just not getting off the field and this offense

07:56Clearly you can't ask it to be perfect right now

07:59For whatever reason and in and I I think that they look pretty darn good early and it was ten points at halftime

08:06it's not like they scored 21 in the first half 28 in the first half and so when that's the case and part of that

08:12was they had a

08:1317 play 10 minute and 4 second drive to start the game

08:16shortens the game, but overall

08:18Ugly ugly ugly three and five on the season. Oh and four at home if you count the preseason Oh and six

08:25Oh and six at home, but I'm just saying they haven't won here. They haven't won here even in a game. That didn't matter

08:32I'm honestly shocked by that but outside of

08:36Failing to win at home, which is just mind-boggling considering there were 60 over 60,000

08:4467,000 fans here

08:46Going berserk when the Eagles were in third down situations and quiet when the Bengals were in

08:52Third and long situations third down situations fourth down situations

08:56You have the fans on your side and you're still losing. It just doesn't make sense

09:01One question I have for you. I would love to know your thoughts

09:07turnover where

09:10What 12 minutes left to go in this game and in my head I'm like, all right, they're down 10

09:1512 minutes left they have got to score here

09:17That way obviously the Eagles had to have another possession and they have a chance to at least kick a field goal or get in

09:23Position to kick a field goal take the overtime. Maybe that's what I'm thinking and instead we see a Joe Burrow

09:29Interception and Jamar chase at what was going on? What did you think was going on with that?

09:37Mind numbing to me like what?

09:39Well, yeah

09:40like that's when you're thinking all right, they're gonna go get seven and apply pressure on the Eagles and put the the ball back in

09:44The Eagles court to go score again

09:47Look, I think he left it a little short and he mentioned that I don't mind taking the shot

09:53But it ultimately was bad luck, too

09:55I mean the fact that the the safety is right there perfect place to knock

10:00What will one the corner knocked the ball away and then the safety to intercept it?

10:04I think worst case it's an incomplete in Joe's mind. And so he's like, all right, let's take a shot

10:08Let's give Joe Jamar a shot. He left it a little short defender gets his hand on it makes a play

10:13I I don't mind that I'm never gonna be like, oh, well don't throw it deep to Jamar

10:16I would have liked that on the fourth and one by the way, that would have been better than the behind the line of scrimmage

10:22But

10:23Sometime the result is the result and that's why like you can't be down 10 in that position where you're like

10:28All right, we got to open it up a little we got to push it because you push it and sometimes when you push it

10:32You get burned and we've been talking for how many weeks about you know

10:35The defense played really well the last couple of games

10:38The offense did not play great the last couple of games and everyone

10:42Continued to say what happens if the defense doesn't have a great game, but then the offense doesn't have a great game either

10:49We know what the results are. We saw what the results would be today. Yeah, and I

10:55Felt like today's game against the Eagles was a huge litmus litmus test for them

10:59I can't even say the word you say for me litmus test

11:02And the test wasn't good. The results weren't good. I don't know

11:06I'm not I haven't given up totally on this team, but I'm I'm starting to

11:11Get frustrated with how how they play even as a journalist. I think that's fair

11:15I think this was one of those games that could have went

11:19One way and set a tone in a direction for this season and who knows?

11:23Maybe it did just in the negative way and and that's what we'll find out in the coming weeks this Bengals team
