Hello, the fog and mist and murk from this morning will start to shift through northern
00:06
areas but it's going to linger through much of the day across southern parts of the country.
00:10
And that's because we've got this cold front splitting the country in half today. And that's
00:15
going to sink southwards as we head into the rest of the evening and into Thursday, introducing
00:21
much clearer and cooler air across the country by Thursday. But with that will come a more
00:27
noticeable breeze across the northeast. Taking a closer look at the rest of Wednesday, though,
00:32
that front is still sat across north Wales and parts of northern England, bringing some
00:37
outbreaks of rain into the Midlands and more central areas of the UK by the afternoon and
00:43
into the evening. To the north of that, we've got that clearer air being introduced across
00:48
northern England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, a much brighter afternoon than recent days,
00:53
though a few showers will push into the far north of Scotland. Despite the extra sunshine
00:59
in the north, it is going to be feeling much cooler than recent days. So in areas where
01:03
we've reached close to the mid-teens, it's only going to be seeing six or seven degrees.
01:10
And to the south of that weather front across more southern areas of England, we will continue
01:17
to see dull and dank weather continuing. So not feeling particularly warm out there this
01:22
afternoon for any areas of the country. And that cool feel, chilly feel will continue
01:28
through Wednesday night and into Thursday morning, where we'll see that clear and dry
01:32
weather become more widespread across the country once that weather front clears the
01:37
south. That will allow a frost to develop in places we haven't seen in recent days.
01:42
So across more northwestern areas of the UK, southwestern Scotland, northwestern England
01:49
and parts of Northern Ireland could see temperatures as low as minus three or four away from any
01:54
coasts. To the south of that, we'll see a chilly night, but not quite as cold as recent
02:01
nights across parts of Wales, central and southern England, though some areas could
02:05
touch minus one degrees. So a touch of frost is still possible here. So a bit of a chilly
02:12
start to Thursday, but by and large, Thursday is going to be a dry and fine day. Plenty
02:17
of sunshine, particularly for more western areas of the country. Notice hardly a cloud
02:22
in the sky across parts of Wales and western areas of Scotland as well as Northern Ireland.
02:28
But across the east, that northeasterly breeze will drag in a bit more cloud as well as the
02:33
odd shower to parts of northeastern England. Now, temperatures will be a bit more evenly
02:39
spread by Thursday afternoon, very close to average for the time of year, feeling a bit
02:44
milder than recent days in the south, but a very similar feel to Wednesday across the
02:49
north and through Thursday evening. Very little change to the weather again. We'll continue
02:55
to see that cloud across eastern areas and the clear spells will allow a more widespread
03:00
frost to develop across more western areas of Wales and much of Scotland, where it could
03:05
be quite a harsh frost by the time we get to Friday morning. Further overnight frost
03:11
as we head towards the weekend with variable abouts of cloud. But you can find plenty more
03:16
details on your weather forecast by checking out our 10-day trend that will be released
03:20
later today.
