00:00Hello. Not everyone will see thunderstorms over the next couple of days, but where they
00:04do occur, just as we saw yesterday, they will bring some serious impacts. You can see the
00:10speckled nature in these storms as they form across parts of England and Wales during the
00:15rest of Tuesday. I think it's Yorkshire southwards where we're likely to see those heavy showers,
00:20torrential rain in places, hail, lightning and some surface water flooding of course,
00:26heavy rain falling onto dry ground. Away from the showers, there will be some brighter interludes
00:33but a lot of cloud cover and temperatures much lower compared to recent days, even in
00:39the south-east, 26, possibly 27 Celsius and certainly a fresher feel. For northern England,
00:44Scotland and Northern Ireland, mostly dry here. Still some outbreaks of rain for the
00:49north and central parts of Scotland, north-east England, but actually it's a drying up process.
00:54There is some clearer air coming along for the north of Scotland, parts of Northern Ireland
00:59later. It's further south where all the action is happening and across the Midlands, parts
01:04of mid and south Wales, south-west England, that's where the threat remains overnight
01:09of further heavy downpours and thundery rain. One or two showers elsewhere as well. A warm
01:16night to come, not as warm as previous nights, but still 15 or 16 Celsius in the south, whilst
01:21it's much more comfortable for sleeping I think for Scotland, Northern Ireland, Northern
01:25England. Clear spells and temperatures in places dipping into the single figures. Now
01:30we start off Tuesday with the north-west-south split across the UK. High pressure ridging
01:36into Scotland, Northern Ireland will bring a fine day here, but still these weather fronts,
01:41still this low pressure in the south bringing some heavy rain. Some prolonged rain potentially
01:45across parts of the Midlands into south Wales, south-west England first thing. And then further
01:50thundery showers break out. And the focus I think by Wednesday afternoon will be across
01:55parts of East Anglia into the far south-east of England, where slow moving torrential downpours,
02:01some really significant amounts of rain in a short spell of time. Yeah, we need rain
02:05in that part of the world, but not that much in just a few hours. So that could cause some
02:11issues and lightning and hail additional hazards as well. Temperatures really dropping off
02:17where we see that happen. But elsewhere actually it's a fine day for Scotland, Northern Ireland,
02:23Northern England, sunny spells and increasingly for north and west Wales. We'll see that sunshine
02:27making an appearance. The drier air to the north-west is drifting its way southwards.
02:34Temperatures at or slightly below average in the north and not far from average in the
02:38south. So this cooling off process is taking place at the moment. Any showers where they
02:44do occur could last well into the evening in the south-east. But otherwise for most
02:48it's a dry night to come. Some rain making an appearance there into the west of Scotland,
02:53parts of western Northern Ireland by the end of the day. And then we're back to more typical
03:00mixed weather for the UK, Friday, Saturday, Sunday. Rain at times from the west, some
03:06showers in between, but also some sunshine.
