Hello there and welcome to your forecast into Wednesday. Here are your headlines.
00:04
Over the next 24 hours a bank of cloud and rain affects Scotland and Northern
00:09
Ireland, pushing down and clipping the far north and northwest of England as
00:12
well as Wales. Elsewhere it's warm tonight, some starry skies and hot
00:16
tomorrow. So through this evening the winds pick up some strength across the
00:20
North Channel, western parts of Scotland, some moderate bursts of rain across
00:23
western parts of Scotland down towards Northern Ireland. The rain slowly moves
00:27
towards the central belt of Scotland, hanging on to some dry weather further
00:30
southeast though. Now towards the south of that, that's where we'll see dry
00:34
conditions but more cloud just lapping along the shorelines of West Wales as
00:38
well as the West Country and eventually we will see some rain move in across the
00:41
Isle of Man. Temperatures holding up wherever you are, a milder night than the
00:45
night before. That leads into a bright start to the day across the west as well
00:49
as the north of Scotland with some sunshine. Yes it will be rather blustery
00:52
here, a few showers for the Western Isles but we've lost the cloud. We hang on to
00:56
the cloud for Aberdeenshire, Lothians, central belt of Scotland and that patchy
01:00
rain just lingers on. It's cleared much of Northern Ireland but you can see it's
01:03
moving down towards the northwest of Wales, more cloud ahead of it and
01:07
certainly for Cumbria and Lancashire you'll see some patchy rain through the
01:10
morning. To the south and the east across much of England, eastern parts of Wales
01:14
it's a lovely start to the day, some warm sunshine and temperatures
01:18
responding very quickly indeed. So this weather front here delineates the
01:23
fresher air towards the north as well as the west with that blustery breeze, some
01:26
showers developing across western parts of Scotland as well as Northern Ireland,
01:29
some brighter skies here and to the south some strong sunshine and
01:33
temperatures rising really quickly. High UV levels here through the day, certainly
01:37
a very warm day wherever you are. Under the cloud yes the rain tends to fizzle
01:42
out but you'll still see some patches coming and going particularly for the
01:45
northwest of England, perhaps the far north and northwest of Wales. Highest
01:49
temperatures then will be the southeast, 30 degrees Celsius, pleasantly warm
01:53
across eastern parts of Scotland here, 19 Celsius. All change through Wednesday
01:59
evening and overnight, there's a thunderstorm warning in force for much
02:03
of England, eastern and southeastern parts of Wales. The thunderstorms are
02:08
brewing across the Channel Isles and through Wednesday evening they will
02:12
trundle their way northwards. You can see these bright echoes here representing
02:16
some quite heavy torrential downpours, so the risk of lightning, thunder, hail and
02:22
where you see any really heavy bursts, some strong and gusty winds. They
02:26
transfer their way northwards across much of the Midlands, East Anglia, up
02:30
towards the northeast of England, rain on the periphery towards the west. So this
02:34
is your warning zone as we head through Wednesday and into Thursday, extending
02:39
across as I said much of England, eastern and southern parts of Wales. So these are
02:45
the risks we are expecting and the risk of thunderstorms actually continues as
02:49
we head through to the latter part of the working week and into the weekend,
02:54
mostly concentrated across more eastern and southeastern areas of England by
02:59
then, as a ridge of high pressure extends across from the southwest and this brings
03:03
settled conditions for Northern Ireland, Scotland, western parts of Wales,
03:07
northwest England, where we'll see some fine weather and even some sunshine
03:11
temperatures around average for this time of year. But that thunderstorm risk
03:15
does continue into Saturday, so please stay tuned to the forecast and we'll keep
03:19
you posted. Bye bye.
