Hello there. Welcome to your weather update from the Met Office.
00:04
Our attention is focused on a slow-moving weather front which will deliver wet weather
00:09
across the West Country, Wales, Northern England and Scotland over the next 24 hours.
00:14
Here's your bigger picture. Let's pick up on that front.
00:17
You can see it's not moving very far, very fast.
00:20
Eventually, though, we'll see some waves develop on it
00:23
as gradually it sinks down towards the southeast, triggering some thunderstorms.
00:28
And then we'll see a ridge come in across many parts on Thursday.
00:32
Still a few showers lurking out there.
00:34
And then all change through the weekend across the far northwest.
00:38
More about that in a moment.
00:40
Let's backtrack now to Tuesday evening,
00:43
where we can pick up on this rain just moving in across Wales,
00:46
clipping the far north of the West Country,
00:49
extending towards Liverpool Bay, Greater Manchester, Lancashire,
00:53
as well as Northern Council of England.
00:55
Some showery bursts then just move in across Scotland.
00:58
Whereas for Northern Ireland, it will be a fine end to the night
01:01
after a little showery rain to start the evening.
01:04
And towards the southeast, dry but very muggy.
01:07
Temperatures holding here around 17 or 18, so an uncomfortable night.
01:12
First thing then on Wednesday morning,
01:14
showery rain across central and eastern areas of Scotland.
01:17
We could even see some quite heavy bursts for a time across the Western Isles.
01:22
Fine start for Northern Ireland and the Isle of Man.
01:24
We run into this showery rain across Northern Council of England.
01:27
It's fairly sporadic.
01:28
And then this rain extends down towards the southwest,
01:30
where waiting in the wings will be another heavy pulse.
01:33
Towards the east, despite the fact we'll see the clouds come and go through the day,
01:38
it's going to be very warm, if not hot, with some sunshine coming through.
01:42
So through the morning, this is that weather front,
01:44
extending yet again, some more rain across Wales,
01:47
clipping the West Midlands towards Yorkshire, Derbyshire,
01:50
as well as the northeast of England.
01:53
The rain does clear eastern Scotland with a few showers to follow.
01:57
And one or two showers can't be ruled out across Northern Ireland,
02:00
but we should see some fine conditions here.
02:02
Some showers then develop across Lincolnshire, central, southern parts of England,
02:06
but mostly dry, whereas across this zone here,
02:10
you'll see a marked difference in temperatures,
02:12
where you see the cloud and the rain, 20, 21 degrees Celsius.
02:15
Towards the southeast, 29, even 30,
02:18
and feeling pleasantly warm across Scotland and Northern Ireland through the afternoon,
02:22
where temperatures will reach the low 20s.
02:25
And then here's your broader picture through Thursday.
02:28
Thunderstorms are a risk on Thursday across the southeast,
02:31
and then a slight ridge coming in, a little bit of showery rain on Friday,
02:34
but things do tend to settle down.
02:37
We'll see a few showers, so that really marks the beginning of the weekend.
02:41
Through the end of the weekend, though,
02:42
another weather system comes in from the Atlantic,
02:45
delivering cloud and rain to Northern Ireland and western Scotland.
02:49
So here's your city's list on Thursday.
02:52
Remember those thunderstorms towards the southeast.
02:55
Elsewhere, a few showers, but also some fine and dry weather.
02:58
And day on day, temperatures not as high,
03:01
still very warm across the southeast, pleasantly warm elsewhere,
03:04
again with a few scattered showers.
03:07
And that's pretty much how we see the beginning of the weekend,
03:09
but towards the end, it's worth noting,
03:11
we'll see some rain arriving across the northwest.
03:14
Bye bye.
