Two men are in hospital after being shot by NSW police officers

Two men are in hospital after being shot by police officers in Sydney’s west sparking a critical incident investigation.

00:00New South Wales police responded to reports of a stolen vehicle just after 12 today in

00:07Wentworthville at the property behind me.

00:10Five officers approached the garage section of the house and as that garage door opened

00:15a vehicle started to drive out towards the officers approaching the building.

00:20Three of the officers who were there opened fire and discharged their weapons, injuring

00:25two men, two occupants rather, that were inside that vehicle.

00:30At a press conference at 4.15 this afternoon we got a condition report on those two people

00:36that were injured.

00:38One is in a stable condition and the other is in a serious condition and the officers

00:43that were involved they have sustained no injuries.

00:47This is still declared a crime scene and police have been talking to people throughout the

00:52day as people have been coming and going even since we've set up here we've noticed

00:57people coming back home from work having left early in the early hours of this morning and

01:03police have been directing them on where to go and what they need to know.

01:07A critical incident team is now investigating this incident and here's what police had to

01:13say at the press conference at 4.15, a little bit of detail on how they were able to track

01:19that stolen vehicle.

01:22The car was stolen from an aggravated break and enter offence in Leone in the early hours

01:26of this morning.

01:28The keys were taken from inside the house, the vehicles were stolen and the vehicle contained

01:33an in-vehicle trucker which the owner used to direct police to this location.

01:40Penrith MP Karen McEwen put out a statement a short while ago saying that her car was

01:46stolen last night but it's unclear whether the car involved in this incident is her car

01:53or not.

01:54Police are very much still investigating this crime scene and they will continue to determine

02:01whether and what happened here.
