00:00The government will focus on two key areas to boost the use of artificial intelligence

00:06in Malaysia, namely encouraging AI adoption and developing the talent pool necessary to

00:12manage this technology.

00:14Science Technology and Innovation Minister Chang Di Kang said the biggest challenge will

00:18be developing an ecosystem as well as establishing the regulations for it.

00:39Chang hopes that small and medium enterprises, which make up a significant portion of companies

00:44in Malaysia, will adopt AI as they would establish a sizable market to build an ecosystem and

00:50stand to reap various benefits.

01:12He said the government is finalising an AI governance and ethics framework expected to

01:16launch within the year, which will outline seven principles for responsible use across

01:21all industries.

01:22However, it will now be legally binding.
