Hiya, we're here with the Snuts today at Tramlines with the best dressing room ever. I mean, what a view is that?
00:06
What a dressing room. We're here with Balancing Act at Tramlines. Guys, what a start to festival
00:12
season for you guys. Yeah, tonight, well today was, that was a bit of a game changer for us.
00:17
It was amazing, so many people. Yeah, more of this please, everyone.
00:23
You last performed Tramlines in 2019. How does it feel to be back this year?
00:28
I'm a bit nervous today, you know, but when we did it back then, it was an amazing gig,
00:35
so I'm just hoping that we've got a big crowd and everyone's up for it.
00:39
You guys are no strangers to Sheffield. You've played here a fair few times.
00:44
What is it that keeps you coming back? We love it here. I think it's, you know,
00:47
it's got a history of indie rock and roll. You know, it's pretty cemented. All our favourite
00:53
bands, you know, we grew up going to see like Melbourne and stuff like that. We came down to
00:57
see like the first Melbourne reunion, stuff like that. So we've got a lot of great memories here,
01:03
just as like, you know, like fans of music as well. So every time we play here, it's tremendous.
01:08
You've got a bit of a history with Sheffield as well. So what was it like for you? Was it
01:11
like a bit of a homecoming show? Yeah, it's my adopted hometown.
01:15
So coming back and playing it to that many people was, it was a cool full circle moment to come back.
01:23
Shame none of my friends came, innit? No, I'm joking, I'm joking. No, it was good, it was good.
01:28
And also that was just after Tramlines had first moved to Hillsborough Park, so
01:33
even more people here this year, bigger crowds, crazy crowds. Yeah, it just keeps getting bigger
01:36
and bigger, innit? It's great. High hopes for the crowds and everything, especially with the
01:40
weather being a bit better than last year. Yeah, let's hope so.
01:47
So last time you guys were at Tramlines, you were on the other stage and like making that jump
01:53
to the main stage. What's that felt like? Because that's got to
01:56
kind of be a real signal to you of how far you've come since then.
02:01
Yeah, it takes a bit of training. We were kind of very comfortable. You know, you get totally
02:05
comfortable with the stages you're on. And then the first kind of main stage we've done, we were
02:09
like, whoa, this is massive. And then like, as Jack said, we're lucky enough to have kind of
02:13
done a few festivals leading up to this, right over the summer and about last year. So we've
02:18
ended up kind of honing our dance moves and we can kind of shift about the stage now.
02:24
A bit more freedom again. That's it, freedom, freedom to dance.
02:30
That's the statement of intent today, freedom. Freedom to dance. Freedom, exactly,
02:34
it's a Scottish thing. Also, you had the song on the advert, advertising the festival. I mean,
02:40
that's a bit of a prophecy. What was it like to have that come to life today?
02:44
It felt like, you know, when, you know, on like Soccer AM or something, when they do the
02:50
montage with you two, man. Yeah, oh, that's the truth.
02:53
Felt like that. It was great. People singing along. Obviously, they all saw the f***ing advert.
03:01
You did play in Sheffield last year at the Lead Mill. A little intimate gig for one man band.
03:07
Yeah. What is it that keeps you coming back to Sheffield?
03:10
Um, it's just, you know, for me, it's like, it's like a lot of this, you know, Sheffield,
03:16
Manchester, Glasgow, they're all, they're kind of like my second homes, you know what I mean?
03:20
And I've been doing this for like 20 years. So it's, you know, I've been coming every year,
03:26
like throughout my career. So it's like, it's been good to me and I respect it.
03:32
You know, you've mentioned Scotland. I got to bring us onto it. The weather today,
03:36
you're obviously not used to this. Yeah. But how are you keeping your jackets on in this weather?
03:41
It must be hot. We did a cowboy thing, like the cowboys always keep their jackets on and
03:45
they're in the hottest place in the world, you know, on the horseback in the desert.
03:48
But the jacket actually keeps you cool. It's an old, it's an old cowboy trick that we do.
03:51
I must admit, today, the cowboy trick didn't work for me and I had to take the jacket off.
03:55
So, so I don't know if it's tried and tested. It's been great, you know, I think this has
03:59
probably been our sunniest festival so far. Well, we take that.
04:03
Yeah, we were in some European festivals and this Sheffield sunshine has totally stole price.
04:09
I have to say, it's not usually like this, but thanks for bringing the sun with you from,
04:14
you know, from the European festivals. Is Sheffield, you know, is it, is it kind of
04:20
somewhere you're planning on coming back to after today or will it, will it be making the dates?
04:25
Well, we were just saying there's no Sheffield date at the moment, but after that we might try and
04:29
squeeze one in. Lead Mill.
04:31
Washi. Yeah.
04:34
Maybe a bit big though for Washi, considering that, because that was packed.
04:38
That was, yeah, yeah. I mean, let's not get over it.
04:42
Thank you for your time guys and go stream the EP and buy tickets to the tour.
