Paris Olympics village filling up, apartment beds to be given to homeless post-Olympics

Athletes and officials participating in the Paris Olympic Games continued to arrive at the Games Village on July 21 with the event just days away.
The organisers said they had already planned to donate some of the beds used by the athletes to the homeless people in Paris after the event.

Many of the apartments are decorated with the flags of the participating nations.

Some athletes who had checked in took a stroll around the area.

The Games Village will house around 14,250 athletes and officials

during the event which will be held from July 26th to August 11th.

The village is fitted with various facilities,

including a doping control centre, a fitness centre and other recreational facilities.

The organisers said some of the beds in the village will be given to local associations

that provide housing support for the homeless in Paris.

Of course we have another project which is a project that we're going to give the beds,

some of the beds of the village, of the beds of the athletes,

to some association to housing for homeless people in Paris.

So it's also a legacy project dedicated to homeless people

to contribute to this complex situation.

Whatever we had to build, for example the Olympic Village,

we had to build it with much less carbon.

And that was a springboard to show the world that we can build houses,

we can build apartments, we can do what people need with a lot less carbon.

Today, the village in which athletes are living

has been built with 30% less carbon per square metre.

It's new construction techniques that are deployed

and that are proving to the world that it can be done.

They said Paris Olympics strives to deliver a more sustainable event

and leave a legacy that transforms communities and enhances social inclusion.

The Games Village will also be used by the para-athletes in the Paralympic Games
