00:00The number one pick, Joe, which has had, listen, a little bit of debate and this draft, everybody's

00:09been pretty open about it.

00:12Not the big name talents that we have seen in the past.

00:15That's for sure.

00:16We do not have a Wembenyama, Zion, you know, any of these huge names that everybody would

00:24throw their entire season for.

00:26You have a couple of these French kids, Richard Scherr and Alexander Saar, who are both expected

00:32to be at the top of the board.

00:34Klingen from UConn, some are saying, has an opportunity to be the top pick.

00:39There you go, Joe, the odds movement for it right there.

00:43It opened with Saar as the favorite.

00:46Last week it was still Saar.

00:48And now this Richard Scherr is at minus 225, with Klingen now at plus 180.

00:54So he's getting a little bit closer, Joe.

00:56I know you're very excited for the first round of the NBA draft.

01:00Would you take one of the unknown French kids, Joe?

01:03Or maybe somebody that's a little bit more of a known commodity for you, like Klingen

01:07from UConn?

01:08Yeah, well, I mean, but with Klingen, what you see is what you get, right?

01:12I mean, you know, the upside, the upside's a little bit limited.

01:15He's a big man.

01:16I mean, I probably, I mean, it all depends, Carver, right?

01:20If you're an established organization, you would say you would take a shot potentially

01:24on one of the youngsters with upside, like Wemba Nyama, right?

01:28I mean, if you could channel that and catch lightning in a bottle, now you have a potential

01:32franchise player for the next, what, five to 10 seasons?

01:36Klingen, I mean, he's probably going to just, I don't think Klingen's all that great, but

01:41Klingen can be a journeyman in the league, right?

01:43So it could be that blue-collar, different player.

01:49You know, like you just said, he could be a journeyman in the league.

01:52When you're picking a guy in the top three, top five, you know, top 10, you're not looking

01:58for journeymen.

02:00You know, you're looking for guys who are going to make a difference.

02:03Journeyman's not enough for me, Joe.

02:06I agree, Carver.

02:07You're right.

02:08But I think that it's a little bit limited in regards to like, you know, even the hoopla

02:13surrounding the straff.

02:14Last year there were, how many guys coming out?

02:18Last year at Wembley, there were like three or four other guys who were players in the

02:20mix that you said were legitimate top five talent.

02:25This year it's like, well, maybe he could be like a Webanyama, Klingen might be that

02:29guy.

02:30There's so much uncertainty that it's almost like trade back and you might get better value.

02:36In terms of just the betting situation with this, Joe, and look, you have obviously more

02:41access to this than me in Jersey, with me being in New York, I don't.

02:46But people are talking up this Zach Eady to Portland at seven and he's still sitting

02:53there at 10 to one.

02:55Coach was saying before he thought if Klingen slipped to them and he's five to one to go

02:59to the seventh overall pick, I think it's those picks, Joe, after five, if you wanted

03:04to take some chances with in terms of the betting for this thing, I think that that's

03:09where I want to look.

03:10Those five to 10 picks.

03:12There's a lot of different plus money there.

03:14There's nobody who's a considerable favorite for any of those shots.

03:17I think that's where, Joe, I don't really, in terms of a betting perspective, probably

03:21want to be involved in the top two or three picks of the draft.

03:24No, because again, you know, you're dealing with unknowns.

03:27The French players, I mean, I'm not going to be betting on it unless you've seen them

03:32play and understand team needs and understand, you know, potential fit in regards to the

03:38offensive defensive scheme, then it's a waste of money.

03:41And like you said, if you can get a player like Edie at 10 to one for potential value

03:46at a potential team that fits a need, then yeah, you take a shot.

03:50And Zach Edie again, he's got the size.

03:53Can he transition to be that five two player?

03:56Only time will tell.

03:58One more thing with the draft, of course, Brani is going to be a big topic of discussion

04:04over the next couple of days.

04:07I don't think, Joe, he's going to go tomorrow night in the first round.

04:12I don't think.

04:13I guess it's possible if somebody wants to go and take that stab.

04:18Because honestly, Joe, even in a draft that's not very deep like this, 20 on, I mean, what

04:24are we doing really?

04:25Are we throwing darts?

04:26You're looking for the upside.

04:28You're looking for things like that.

04:29I'm sure somebody is going to want to maybe take a stab there, but I think it would be

04:32more Thursday in round number two.

04:35Either way, the Lakers are minus 160 to be the team that drafts him.

04:43Suns 7-1, Mavericks 9-1, Timberwolves 11-1 there.

04:49I don't know, Joe.

04:52It's hard.

04:53If he wasn't LeBron James' son, would he be getting drafted in this draft?

04:57I'm not sure.

04:58I think that the kid has talent.

05:01I think we all thought he should have played another year of college basketball.

05:07He's going to get drafted, Joe.

05:09Is anyone else interested in taking him besides the Lakers just to make LeBron happy?

05:14Yeah, maybe a team that wants to lure LeBron to their team.

05:19I mean, I think it comes down to you talk about tampering and you talk about potential

05:24setups.

05:26This is one way to do it in regards to getting the conversation at least started, right?

05:32We'll see.

05:33I don't think he's that great of a player, Carver.

05:36Will he be drafted?

05:37Most likely, again, because it's the LeBron card.

05:40If they want maybe LeBron to be in their team or their organization, they'll draft and try

05:45to work out a deal.
