00:03 What an exciting finish in Kentucky at the PGA Championship,

00:07 right down to the last shot of the last hole.

00:11 We will recap that.

00:15 also this very intriguing story about a former member of the Los Angeles Angels,

00:19 now involved in a potential sports betting scandal as well.

00:22 Also, Matt Lutovsky joins us for

00:23 the latest in Major League Baseball going on this afternoon and this evening.

00:26 But we begin with a recap from last night, and

00:29 we will have a new NBA champion for the sixth time in six years.

00:33 Yes, they did it.

00:34 The Minnesota Timberwolves went to Denver and won.

00:37 They were down 20.

00:39 It didn't matter.

00:40 Minnesota wins 98 to 90.

00:42 The Nuggets will not repeat.

00:43 Of course, they cover this spread in the money line.

00:45 I mean, when you think about it, sort of an embarrassing performance from Denver up

00:48 20, and they only get good performances from Jamal Murray and

00:51 Nikola Jokic, everybody else, silence in the second half of the game.

00:56 And so now Minnesota, yes, that's right, the Timberwolves.

00:59 Remember them from many, many years ago playing well?

01:02 I don't.

01:03 A lot of you don't.

01:04 But they're there.

01:05 They got a shot now to get to the NBA Finals.

01:07 And their head coach Chris Finch talked about what it took to pull out the series.

01:13 >> I mean, the effort was there.

01:14 You know, we just had to, our offense kinda went sideways in the first half.

01:20 And they really upped their defense.

01:22 They were very physical.

01:25 And we just talked about kinda getting back to simplifying our offense,

01:29 if you will.

01:29 I thought we were trying to over orchestrate matchups and

01:32 mismatches and all this other stuff, and kinda played right into their hands.

01:36 So we just had to get back to kinda moving the ball.

01:39 We didn't shoot the ball particularly well, typical game seven in that regard.

01:43 But even when we were down,

01:49 like I kept looking at the field goal percentage, and we were in the 40s,

01:52 in the 30s, our defense was there.

01:54 And then it went to a special place in the third quarter,

01:57 where we've been able to take it at times.

01:59 And just everybody just kinda bucking up and

02:05 making plays and executing the game plan, so.

02:08 >> Minnesota, great job by them over the course of the regular season.

02:14 It pays to play in the regular season, as the Timberwolves definitely found out.

02:17 Well, meanwhile, not as much drama going into game seven between the Pacers and

02:22 the Knicks, as the Knicks were just thoroughly outshot and outplayed.

02:26 The final 130, that's right, 130 to 109.

02:30 Indiana 67% from the field, which is the highest field goal percentage

02:36 from any game in the history of the playoffs.

02:41 That is incredible.

02:42 And look, Indiana played this kind of basketball all season long.

02:46 We didn't see it a lot in the playoffs, but they definitely came through.

02:50 And wouldn't you know, the Pacers now with an opportunity to beat

02:53 the Boston Celtics, who are the heavy favorite, by the way, now,

02:57 to win the NBA Finals.

02:59 But it was an incredible series also for the Knicks.

03:02 Incredible season for Jalen Brunson, who was hurt again in this game, unfortunately.

03:06 He'll be fine for the regular season, but also got hurt once again.

03:11 Brunson talked about the head coach and

03:13 certainly everything that was delivered with the Knicks in this series.

03:17 I think Tibbs has the same mindset we do as a team.

03:20 Tibbs is the reason why we have that mindset.

03:24 Tibbs is the reason why we night in and night out.

03:27 We fight to the best of our abilities.

03:28 Even though things may not be in our favor result wise,

03:35 he makes sure that we have that mindset night in and night out.

03:39 So I think he's evolved by just not,

03:45 I mean, he sees everything that everyone says.

03:48 So, but I think when it comes to us,

03:50 we don't really care what the people on the outside think of us.

03:53 We don't care what people say, positive or negative.

03:56 We go forward with what we believe is the best course of action in this,

04:01 inside this building, inside the organization.

04:03 And so I think the way that he's evolved is that his players in that locker room

04:08 have his back no matter what.

04:09 >> And you would assume that Thibodeau would be back as Knicks head coach,

04:13 although the NBA is insane.

04:14 They fire coaches for winning championships these days.

04:16 So what do I know?

04:18 Xander Shoffley basically went wire to wire

04:22 as the winner of the PGA Championship this year.

04:24 And by the way, kudos to him for closing this thing out with a birdie on 18.

04:28 Because the pressure, if you don't think it was there, my gosh.

04:30 I mean, Bryson DeChambeau was breathing down this guy's throat, warming up,

04:35 getting ready for a playoff, but Xander birdied 18, and he wins the PGA Championship.

04:41 He needed every single shot to win and talked about what it took on that 18th hole.

04:45 >> I was, I walked up, I saw a little left to right, I kept reading it,

04:52 I kept kind of panning, it started to look right to left to me.

04:55 And I was like, my gosh, this is not what I want for a winning putt.

04:59 Fortunately, it was uphill, it was six feet-ish.

05:03 I ended up playing it straight, it did go left, caught the left side.

05:08 Just a huge, just so much relief when it leapt in.

05:12 I don't even really remember it leaping in, I just heard everyone roaring.

05:15 And I just look up to the sky in relief.

05:17 >> Yeah, as exciting as it got, by the way, yesterday for

05:21 any golf event, in case you didn't watch the end of it.

05:23 All right, let's get to the Eastern Conference Finals.

05:26 Chris Tapps-Porzingis expected to miss some more time with the calf strain.

05:29 So could not probably be back, I would say, until game three

05:35 of the Eastern Conference Finals, depending on how things go.

05:37 Chris Paul, by the way, did an interview with Forbes,

05:39 said he would like to be an owner in some way.

05:41 Maybe a WNBA owner, it's potentially there.

05:43 We'll see what the future holds for Chris Paul.

05:46 Detroit Pistons are looking for a new team president.

05:49 Some candidates have emerged, according to Yahoo, Trajan Langdon, Scott Perry,

05:53 Dennis Lindsay, John Hammond, some possibilities.

05:56 We'll see what they end up doing ahead of the NBA draft.

05:59 Also, Bronny James is doing very well at the NBA Combine,

06:03 40.5 inch vertical leap, 19 for 25 in the three-point shooting drill.

06:09 He's in the ESPN Top 100 rankings, jumped up from about 100 to Top 50.

06:15 So the assumption is he'll be drafted.

06:17 This will be the storyline in the NBA draft coming up soon.

06:19 All right, Shohei Otani, his first walk-off win, no surprise with the Dodgers.

06:23 He now leads the majors in war.

06:25 He's a DH, that's incredible.

06:27 Does not play the field and leads in war.

06:28 David Fletcher, meanwhile, we're gonna talk a lot about this in the coming weeks.

06:32 A former player with the Angels who's now pitching in the Braves minor league system

06:35 as a knuckleballer, allegedly caught betting on baseball.

06:40 Well, we'll see what this really means, because indeed if this is the case,

06:44 it would be a lifetime ban for Fletcher.

06:46 And the story goes is allegedly he was using the same bookmaker

06:50 that Shohei Otani's interpreter was.

06:52 So we'll see what happens with this story as we move on.

07:43 which would allow institutional wealth, including some of these private equity funds,

07:50 They've never permitted this before, but certainly this is going to open up a lot

07:55 of doors potentially, not only here in the United States, but outside as well.

07:58 I'm sure they're looking at Live Golf and some of these other potential investors,

08:02 maybe to make some more money buying teams in the National Football League.

08:05 The Canucks and Oilers will play game seven tonight.

08:08 Edmonton hosts Vancouver.

08:09 Winter advances to the Western Conference Finals where the Dallas Stars, they await.

08:15 And also, how about a couple of MMA legends making this announcement over the weekend?

08:23 These guys dominated the UFC scene, and now they're headed over to boxing to see
