00:00
But we do start off with this breaking news from the state of Florida less than an hour
00:09
to go.
00:10
The group called West Flagler that was challenging the Seminole Tribe of Florida's ability to
00:15
be the exclusive provider of sports betting and even operate in sports betting has been
00:20
denied.
00:21
So the United States Supreme Court rejects the bid to eliminate the Seminole Tribe.
00:26
And that means that the Seminole Tribe of Florida is going to have exclusive statewide
00:32
control over legal sports betting through the year 2051.
00:36
Again, the Seminole Tribe, they roll on with the Hard Rock app and they roll on through
00:41
at least 2051.
00:43
So there will be no more petitions, no more challenging.
00:45
This is the final ruling from the Supreme Court.
00:48
Also some very big news coming out of this as well, that in the year 2026, so still a
00:54
couple of years to go under this legislation, that iGaming will be legal also in Florida
01:01
as well.
01:02
So that is a new wrinkle to this ruling.
01:05
And also we'll get into the possibility now for the first time we're hearing that other
01:09
states potentially will have legalization through their tribal entities like the state
01:15
of California.
01:17
So when Mike Mazia comes on the show a little bit later, those of you who live in California,
01:20
stay tuned because you could have legal sports betting coming sooner than later.
01:24
Meanwhile, over at the U.S. Open, congratulations is in order for Rory McIlroy, who once again
01:33
failed.
01:34
No, I'm just kidding.
01:35
Sorry.
01:36
Was that bad that I did that to Rory McIlroy?
01:37
Yeah, probably so.
01:38
Yeah, it was Bryson DeChambeau that ended up winning the championship.
01:44
I don't know.
01:45
Why do I like Raz and Rory a little bit here?
01:48
I don't know.
01:49
Maybe because he chose not to speak to the media yesterday.
01:51
I didn't like seeing that.
01:52
So sorry, Rory.
01:53
I'm giving you a shot at the beginning of the show.
01:56
Bryson DeChambeau played so well at the BGA Championship, wins his second U.S. Open, and
02:01
obviously was fantastic and really played, I think, start to finish better than anybody
02:06
in the tournament.
02:07
As I mentioned earlier, one of the side stories to this, though, is shame on you, Rory McIlroy.
02:14
After losing, really losing the U.S. Open, had a chance to win this, did not speak to
02:18
the media, packed up his stuff, and left.
02:21
So he's probably in line for a fine with the PGA Tour.
02:24
Now, look, I've never been in the spot that Rory McIlroy has been, which is basically
02:29
playing on a professional sports team, league, or even by myself in anywhere.
02:33
So I can't imagine having that feeling of blowing another championship.
02:36
But needless to say, you've got to do your job at the end, and you've got to just take
02:39
the high road here, take some road here, as opposed to bailing on a lot of people who
02:44
probably just wanted to hear what happened at the end.
02:47
Either way, here's Bryson DeChambeau.
02:48
After winning another U.S. Open, talked about that up-and-down on 18, which really was one
02:53
of the keys to win, and of course, the bunker shot that helped him as well.
02:57
Also commented, by the way, on Rory McIlroy not winning.
03:01
I am so happy I got that shot up-and-down on 18.
03:05
Oh, man.
03:08
I wanted to get this one done, especially at such a special place that means so much
03:12
to me and SMU, and my dad, what pain meant to him, 1,000th USGA championship.
03:25
I mean, just stack them on top.
03:28
That bunker shot was the shot of my life.
03:31
Rory's one of the best to ever play, and being able to fight against a great like that is
03:37
pretty special.
03:39
For him to miss that putt, I'd never wish it on anybody.
03:43
It just happened to play out that way, and he'll win multiple more major championships.
03:49
There's no doubt.
03:50
I think that fire in him is going to continue to grow, and I have nothing but respect for
03:56
how he plays the game of golf because, to be honest, when he was climbing up the leaderboard
04:03
and he was too ahead, I was like, uh-oh, uh-oh.
04:08
But luckily, things went my way today.
04:12
A little bit different than the PGA championship when Zander ended up holding on to the end.
04:16
McIlroy ends up blowing it.
04:18
DeChambeau takes home the US Open.
04:20
Tonight in the NBA, the Boston Celtics are six-and-a-half-point favorites to take the
04:24
Larry O'Brien trophy this evening.
04:26
They were clobbered by Dallas on Friday night, 122-84.
04:32
And so, naturally, there's an opportunity now for Dallas to jump back into the series,
04:35
but that would have to happen tonight, you know?
04:38
I mean, that's just basically the deal.
04:40
They got to win tonight.
04:41
Of course, they're eliminated.
04:42
Jason Kidd yesterday talked about some of the adjustments that they have been making,
04:46
and certainly the Boston Celtics are a team that knows exactly what they're doing up and
04:51
down on the court.
04:52
Yeah, I thought they were really good in game four.
04:56
That helped us get to game five, but just, you know, understand we can't have three on
05:00
the ball.
05:01
They're too good of being able to make that pass, and they're the best team at shooting
05:06
the three.
05:07
So, there's some things that we can clean up and that we're going to have to be better
05:10
here in game five if we want to win.
05:13
They're not a team that changes.
05:15
They're the team that makes you change, and so they're going to probably look to see that
05:19
they had some good looks from three that didn't go down, and also, you know, being able to
05:25
probably get Tatum and Brown going early.
05:30
Having those two attack our defense early is probably something that could be an adjustment,
05:38
but for them, it's shooting the three, creating the three, and then capitalizing on your mistakes,
05:46
and hopefully for us, our mistakes were low in game four, and hopefully they're low in
05:51
game five.
05:53
We'll see if Chris Tapps Porzingis plays for the Celtics.
05:56
Of course, he has been out for a period of time with a dislocation of the posterior tibialis
06:02
tendon in his left leg.
06:04
Naturally, game five, now a much bigger scenario.
06:07
We'll see if Porzingis ends up playing tonight in the NBA.
06:10
All right, Kaitlyn Clark and the Indiana Fever defeated Angel Reese in the Chicago Sky.
06:15
Feels like every game, we're not talking about the actual basketball, but fouls and pushes
06:20
and everything else going on in the game.
06:21
Kaitlyn Clark, 23 points, 91 to 83, the final.
06:25
Joel Embiid says he's ready to play in the Olympics.
06:28
He made an appearance during the pregame show saying that he is healthy enough to play in
06:33
the upcoming Summer Olympics.
06:34
Meanwhile, healthy enough to play is not going to be the case for Mookie Betts.
06:38
He fractured his hand, not going to need surgery, but he will miss some time.
06:43
Who knows how long?
06:44
He got hit in the hand with a fastball from Dan Altavela during the seventh inning of
06:48
Sunday's game against the Kansas City Royals.
06:51
They also placed their young pitcher, Yamamoto, on the injured list as well.
06:55
Nine stolen bases for the Boston Red Sox.
06:57
They win yesterday nine to three over the New York Yankees.
07:01
How about the Mets?
07:02
They're hot again.
07:04
They swept the Padres.
07:05
They're on a five-game winning streak back in the playoff picture.
07:08
They won 11 to six yesterday.
07:10
And Ronel Blanco, who was pitching a no-hitter again yesterday, was taken out of the game
07:14
after seven innings.
07:16
Second pitcher in franchise history to have two starts with at least seven hitless innings,
07:19
joining Frambois Valdez, who did that last year.
07:21
All right.
07:22
College baseball heating up in Omaha.
07:23
It's the College World Series.
07:24
Number one team in the country, Tennessee.
07:26
They beat North Carolina six to one there.
07:28
More games to be played today.
07:30
Tee Higgins ended up signing that franchise tag.
07:32
He'll make $21.8 million for the upcoming season.
07:36
He requested a trade and hasn't reported for any of their OTAs thus far.
07:41
Chiefs defensive tackle Isaiah Buggs has been arrested on second-degree violence.
07:45
And burglary charges.
07:46
Second time in less than a month.
07:47
He was arrested in Alabama, booked on second-degree domestic violence charges, and had been accused
07:53
of animal cruelty in late May.
07:56
And also the UFL had their championship game yesterday in case you missed it, the United
07:59
Football League.
08:01
And Birmingham won again.
08:03
This is the 25-0 win over San Antonio.
08:07
And they ended up winning the conference, the champion in 2022, 23, 24.
08:13
So Birmingham clearly the class of these alternate football leagues.
