00:00but let's get started and we begin at the current status of the U.S. Open where J.J. Spahn is the
00:06leader right now as it stands he is four under par Gary Woodland is also three under par
00:12as you see there the Masters champion Rory McIlroy was two under par he's fallen
00:17one back other big names like Bryson DeChambeau he is at even par Ludwig Oberg one under and so
00:25thus far so far so good we thought we'd see a lot of high scores at least after a quarter through the
00:32day on day one at the U.S. Open golfers not having as hard as a time we'll see if that continues
00:38meanwhile the Oklahoma City Thunder right now are in a potential position to lose the NBA finals
00:47because that's all that can be said making a 2-1 lead in the series as not only do the
00:55Pacers cover but they win the game outright impressive performances all around from the
01:01entire group on Indiana and as you see there 116 to 107 was the final Rick Carlisle after the game
01:10thrilled at the defensive contribution and some I mean those guys were were were tremendous and
01:18TJ just brought a a will competitive will to the game you know Matherin jumped in there and
01:27immediately was aggressive and got the ball in the basket and you know look this is the kind of team
01:35that we are you know we need we need everybody to be ready it's not always going to be exactly the
01:42same guys that are stepping up with scoring and stuff like that but you know this is this is how
01:48we got to do it and we got to do it as a team and and you know we got to make it as hard as possible
01:54on them yeah I mean the conversation was like we got to wake up you know I think that was the biggest
01:59thing we had a couple bad turnovers there you know we're playing a little little antsy antsy probably
02:05is the is the right word um but I thought we just did a great job of responding like it's the NBA
02:1110 points is nothing 20 points is nothing you know um no lead is safe so uh you just got to put your
02:17head down just one play at a time that's what it is one play one quarter whatever the case is try to
02:22you know look at it in increments that way um you know so you can stick with it so um you know we
02:27didn't start the game the way we wanted to I thought our first quarter was poor uh but our second unit
02:31did a great job of giving us energy to start that second quarter and uh we just rode that wave you
02:36know from there so uh definitely got to get better starts the first three minutes and the last three
02:40minutes of every quarter are so important especially in in a time like this so uh you know we we weren't
02:46good to start the third quarter either so you know watch the film see we can get better continue to
02:50improve meanwhile having to get better that's got to be the theme of the thunder what has gone wrong
02:55for them is basically offensively they have not looked like the same team against the Indiana Pacers
03:01that was one of the questions that Shea Gilgis Alexander had to answer after the loss
03:07what did you see from them defensively and what impact did that have on the turnovers especially
03:12you had tonight yeah they were aggressive they were um they were higher in the pick and rolls um
03:20they really were just like coach said more aggressive more forceful um yeah we gotta
03:26starts with me but we gotta um apply that pressure back um especially if you want to beat a team like
03:33that on the road you gotta be the more forceful team for sure um I mean the turnovers were
03:40uncharacteristic obviously we're usually pretty clean there um I give them credit I thought they
03:45played really well they played with great energy um they were physical they pressured uh they sustained
03:51it for much the 48 I thought we did some good things I mean we got off to a really good start
03:56uh and then got off to a really good start in the third we we really controlled the first and third
04:00quarters um and had a really hard time in the second and the fourth so we'll watch it you know it wasn't
04:06uh all bad but we definitely have to play uh you know our style and impose our will uh for more of
04:13the 48 minutes if we want to come on the road and get a win the Florida Panthers can't win the
04:18Stanley Cup tonight but they can take a big step if they win this evening in sunrise they're minus 152
04:25in game four of the Stanley Cup finals they're up 2-1 in the series total of six and a half
04:31the puck will drop tonight at 8 p.m eastern also big news in college sports in basketball positive
04:39momentum to potentially switch men's college basketball from those 20 minute halves that they
04:45play to quarters just like the NBA including some changing of timeouts and such no word on whether
04:51or not this would affect things for the upcoming college basketball season but knowing how college
04:55sports works just in general this probably is going to take a year or two in major league baseball the
05:00battle between LA and San Diego continued last night the Dodgers end up beating the Padres off a
05:05T Oscar Hernandez home run five to two the final there the Mets end up taking care of business as
05:12David Peterson pitched a complete game against the Nationals five to nothing the final Brandon Nimmo
05:19homered twice after a tough season last year Nimmo says it's been nice to turn it around this year
05:25I think last year was a good good learning point for me into sometimes you're just going to go
05:33through some bad luck and you should just stay the course and you know a lot of the stuff that we go by
05:39now is expected numbers and if all of that stuff is pointing to you should you should be having some
05:47success then we kind of lean on that to to play out over a course of seven months unfortunately you
05:55kind of have to you have to understand that the well you're going to go through different seasons and
05:59and the weather is going to heat up and it's going to cool down and some some days the wind's going
06:03to be blowing in and so there's a lot of different factors that that play into this game and so
06:09sometimes you have to just buy into the process and and stick with it when when those numbers are
06:16telling you to that what you're doing is is good and and will work out so after the Phillies struggled
06:25this weekend against the Pirates they come back and take two out of three from the Chicago Cubs Kyle
06:30Schwarber and Alec Boehm Homer Jesus Lozardo struck out 10 as the Phillies end up winning that game by
06:36a final of 7 to 2 and the Atlanta Braves take care of business against the Milwaukee Brewers
06:41nine innings pitched yep that's a complete game for Spencer Schwellenbach hits his first one as the
06:48Braves top the Brewers 6 to 2 meanwhile it's been a tough season for the Baltimore Orioles but they do get
06:53some good news yesterday that included a seven run eighth inning to power past the Tigers they end up
07:00winning the game 10 to 1 Zach Eflin tough start to his season for the Birds but who knows maybe turns
07:05it around in the second half gets traded that's possible Eflin talked about the effort in beating
07:10the Tigers after the game what do you think is especially working for you tonight I think more
07:15than anything just command pretty much trusted every pitch I was throwing Adley called a great game and
07:21really just following the game plan that we put together going into this game and
07:25um but hats off to to Adley because he he called a great game and um execution was there tonight
07:30exactly doubled your changeup rate tonight from your season average and you've really used that pitch a lot
07:35more than since the Nationals outing um can you talk a little bit about that pitch and why you decided
07:40to throw it a bunch tonight and what it's done for you to your repertoire yeah I think it's more so
07:44mixing it in more uh it's been feeling really good out of the hand recently um been getting pretty uh pretty
07:50good results on it so it's just honestly another uh pitch that people have to respect um you know
07:56it's it's been good for a strike pitch for me it's been good for weak contact and a couple strikeouts
08:00on it um but more so just trust in it um we knew kind of going in that I was going to be a good pitch
08:05a lot of lefties um you know just trying to induce uh weak contact as much as I can
08:11Yankees get a big win yesterday over the Royals 6-3 as they seem to be dominating that series
08:17Marcelo Mayer hit two home runs for the Red Sox and they're leaning over the Rays and Byron Buxton
08:23hit a 479 foot home run for the Twins as they beat the Rangers
