00:00 It is not a time where you can gently nudge someone and feel that you have done your bit.
00:14 Because it is nobody's personal or private matter anymore.
00:19 A fellow reproducing blindly is a threat to the entire humanity.
00:24 How is his family his personal matter?
00:29 Tell me please, somebody sets a time bomb in his home, a huge time bomb that will bring
00:37 down the entire community.
00:40 Will you say it is his private matter because he is doing it within his home?
00:45 Tell me please, somebody sets a bomb inside his home and the bomb is powerful enough to
00:51 bring down the entire building, not merely his apartment.
00:57 Will you say it is his private matter, how can I interfere?
00:59 These are personal choices, we have to respect personal choices.
01:03 These are not personal choices anymore.
01:06 If you are reproducing, you are bringing down the entire humanity.
01:12 So you have to be more than gentle now.
01:17 Are you getting it?
01:19 And that does not mean cruelty, that means more compassion.
01:24 More energetic action coming from deeper compassion and deeper sense of responsibility.
01:34 You will have to give up the notion that these are first of all personal choices.
01:38 No, not personal choices.
01:40 What you are doing has an effect on me.
01:43 How is it your personal matter?
01:55 Regarding the population, generally when on the streets when I see women begging with
02:01 their children or on the streets I see people, I get really angry that how can they have
02:08 kids being in the position they are in?
02:11 One is they have not figured out a way for themselves.
02:14 I understand that it is just by chance that the situations that we are born in, the kind
02:20 of resources we have, it is just a genetic chance and I understand that but I really
02:25 get angry when I see that very poor people who are not even able to fend for themselves
02:31 are having kids and then they just use them as tools further to beg.
02:36 So how do we go about dealing with this?
02:41 You are looking in not exactly the right direction.
02:45 That kid that you see begging on the street will have a far smaller carbon footprint throughout
02:52 his life even if there are five such kids in that beggar family.
02:57 Obviously that beggar family must not have five such kids.
03:01 But the reasons for not having kids must be social and economic.
03:09 By having five kids, the beggar family is not really causing much harm to the climate
03:15 because their consumption levels are extremely low.
03:19 Wait, wait, their numbers do not matter.
03:24 India has 1.4 billion people.
03:26 India's carbon footprint is very small compared to that of the US.
03:30 The numbers right now don't matter that much.
03:34 Compared to this, the one or two kids that an affluent family has are a far bigger problem.
03:45 Think of their carbon footprint.
