00:02 A 114-108 victory for the Dallas Mavericks
00:08 over the Miami Heat.
00:10 We take a look at some of the players of this game
00:11 who did very well.
00:12 Obviously it's Luka Doncic.
00:13 He's been absolutely on a tear as of late.
00:16 Now also, it doesn't always equate to victories
00:19 for the Dallas Mavericks,
00:20 but certainly great performances usually help you
00:22 with those victories as it did last night.
00:24 The Mavericks got the win and the cover.
00:26 The game stays under the total 35-11-11
00:30 for Luka Doncic.
00:31 Kyrie Irving also chipped in with 23 points.
00:34 Yesterday, we were feeling Duncan Robinson
00:36 early in that game, splashing three-point shot
00:38 after three-point shot to give the Miami Heat, Davis,
00:41 a 36-28 lead after one.
00:44 But it was the Mavericks the rest of the way,
00:45 picking up the victory now improving to 35-28 on the season.
00:50 - Luka Doncic, man, there's just really only so much
00:54 you can do, 12-24.
00:55 He got to the free throw line and was perfect there.
00:58 He made seven three-pointers,
00:59 although a relatively low scoring game
01:01 for the Dallas Mavericks to be playing in.
01:03 I mean, I probably can count on two hands
01:06 the amount of times they have limited opponents
01:07 to under 110 points this season.
01:10 Sort of an interesting thing with the Miami Heat lineup
01:13 is that injuries have kind of played their way
01:17 into their favor.
01:18 You know, obviously you would not prefer
01:20 to be a banged up version of the Heat,
01:21 but inserting Duncan Robinson into the starting lineup
01:25 and then replacing Kyle Lowry with Terry Rozier
01:28 means that they actually are shooting three-pointers.
01:31 I mean, the Miami Heat, before they did that transaction
01:35 and changed their starting point guard,
01:37 and before Jimmy Butler got back from bereavement leave,
01:40 they were taking the 28th most three-pointers in the NBA.
01:44 Just very hard to play winning basketball.
01:46 Not only when you are not making three-pointers,
01:49 but when you are not even taking them.
01:51 They actually took 38 last night.
01:52 That was almost as many as Dallas Mavericks.
01:55 They made 44% of them.
01:57 They were not particularly great from the free throw line.
02:00 They only made 64% of them.
02:02 And of course, the turnovers were a pretty big deal.
02:05 That is something that we saw Jimmy Butler.
02:06 Guy does not do this in the postseason.
02:08 Six turnovers for Jimmy Butler last night, 114, 108.
02:13 I mean, look, that pretty much is the discrepancy right there.
02:16 Kind of happens in the regular season.
02:19 A down game for P.J. Washington here as well.
02:22 Goes 4 for 12 from the floor.
02:24 I liked that acquisition by the Dallas Mavericks.
02:28 I do think they got to stop trading first-round picks
02:31 for centers, though.
02:32 They traded various levels of protection
02:35 for P.J. Washington and Daniel Gafford.
02:38 And Maxie Klieba still has to close games for them.
02:41 So I mean, obviously, they hope that Derek Lively ends up
02:45 becoming the guy who can just play 35 minutes a night.
02:47 Lively can't make his free throws,
02:49 so he doesn't close out those games right now.
02:51 But yeah, I mean, I don't know about you,
02:53 but I just in general root for the Dallas Mavericks.
02:56 Like, I have no affinity for them.
02:57 I don't really care.
02:59 But I would love to see what Luka Doncic looks
03:01 like in a conference finals.
03:03 And I just find it-- it's just-- it's a bummer
03:07 to watch a player that good have to be like a seven seed.
